Hi all just introducing myself from northeast between Newcastle/Durham.
I,m a bricklayer by trade never worked in a large site, just done general building working with my dad for 30 years.
We do our own plastering when its needed as found over the years its the only way to keep busy, apart from the start of this year, terrible.
I,m always willing to learn from experts so here i am lol.
Starting a rendering job in about an hour, hacked off I,m replacing an upstairs brick soldier course about 7 foot with concrete lintel first then beads on ,house is double fronted bay with large double course brick arch external from front door ,I built this about 20 year ago.
So will sbr/water backing,scratch coat 4/1 with waterproofer,then top coat 5/1/1 ?
Did a large wall years ago with waterproofer in scratch coat years ago and was there till 12 at night found the waterproofer wouldn't let top coat go off.we do usually render/scratch in one day as costs/price make it necessary dependant on job size of course.
Sorry for long first post,as heading out door

Alreet marra, welcome along..........when you say you render/scratch in one day do you mean you scratch and top in the same day??

Sorry missed your question,i did do one side of the bays from top to bottom was only about 6 m2,the other side was scratch coated only .i found the scratched side the day after was harded to rub in,was sliding about.waterproofer?.
I found wetting plastic float often reduced the drag, rubbed with sponge lightly.
checked over a couple times as the sun came out directly in the afternoon, then pee,d down couple hours luckily render was hard enough and no marking ať all
i,m not a plasterer client was happy, added new concrete path to job too.
always willing to listen to good advice
