Just prepared thats all rock..............like when you 'know' that you've got the job and they ask if you'll knock a little bit off for cash, I always tell 'em 'That WAS a cash price'.

or even just ask em if they wanna pay cash before you give em a price, then just give em the price when they say cash...
they reckon theyre quids in already, they just dont know youd have just bunged an extra 30% on top if they argued the toss :RpS_laugh:

Yeah, a lot of customers reckon that if they are getting a cash deal they are saving money - I don't mind peeps thinking that:RpS_sneaky:

Why be arsed if its the tax man on a cash job. You can still pay cash into the bank cant you??

Tax man (woman in this case) told me 'there's nowt wrong with cash......... just as long as we get to know about it' This was in an 'interview' with them a few years back ....................when we were having difficulties 'communicating' :RpS_crying:

dont mess with the tax man ive just got over my ordeal and it was 5 year since and just a routine inspecton.
i now do everything by the book.it aint worth the risk i know a joiner who did loads of cash jobs not declairing lumps,he got investigated and had to pay 18 grand backtaxed for years if they cant find the figures they can estimate the amounts based on your turnover and the amounts you havnt declaired.he had to remorgage to pay it.be warned.

i just priced one tonight and almost lost my rag with the customer . job was old victorian house , hall stairs & landing plus main bedroom. Customer wanted the picture rail removed on hsl , the landing ceiling needed 4m2 taking down and replaced also artex on existing ceilings was hanging off everwhere so needed a good scrape down . Plus walls in hallway had the curved corners . I work on my own most of the time so i priced it at 4-5 days plus materials at 750 quid . He actually laughed at me and told me to be serious . :-0 I then asked him how much he thought it was worth .....250-300 quid all in......was his reply.... He said the bedroom should be no more than a 100 ... prick ....
Makes me so angry when people do that! f**k em!!!

Put in your price and make sure your happy with it.Dont work for a price you aint happy with, your better of staying at home! Ive been off 2 weeks with a muscle injury in my back, did it just bending to pick up an empty bucket!!!! couldnt walk for 3 days and the pain was extreme! Thats what this job does to you and thats why we are worth what we charge! I tell you Ive had lower back pain for 15 years and managed with painkillers but this was pain like Ive never known.Couldnt walk, couldnt sit, couldnt lay down couldnt support my upper body at all, felt like my ribcage had been run over by a truck!
Nah,if they want you to work for nowt, tell em to f*ck off and do it emselves.

Ive had this a few times ,now i walk out and let them get what they are about to pay for.
Got a phone call to price a stairecase and living room and dineing room witch had been knocked through gave them a price got laughed out the house.3 weeks later they rang back asking if i could do the living room,i said what happend with the stairs had it done they said.so i went over and it was the biggest balls up ive seen for a while, then laughed at them and walked out the house ,thought that was a nice change, lost a few quid but it was worth it.

I priced a job recently 2 weeks 2 spreads 3,200 ' they tries to say no do it in 10days for 2 grand I ended up doing it self for 2.5G and it took me 5 weeks this was new bond st ,it worked out a ton a day which should've been near double I think the doe went in to the greedy chipie's pocket , the walls were 3.5m high the longest 11m long, cant stand greedy people ,some would say thats business ,I say greed

just been to look at one today in a big detached house with a big conservarory that was finished brick and they wanted it plasterd.the floor had ceramic tile and the house wall had a feature at the bottom of wall with a spleyed top on it nothing major but a little more work than a flat wall.i need the work and i can do it in a day a big day so went in at £120 and i got told they re getting some more quotes and will call me.i was dumbfounded and cud nt be arsed giving it the hard sell and asling them why they felt they needed more prices i just left

lads ,,,,priced a right awkward job £360. three an a bit days or three long days, labour only they said they would get the gear.date was aranged three days before i was going to start he said there was a problem with the sparks he said he would be intouch,he didnt so i did, some t**t working for a builder done it £180 the lying no b*ll***s c**t. I'm telling all you young lads now get out of this crazy rat race while you still can!!!!!!You cannot run a buisness on £60 a day..

I had a guy ring verbally agree over the phone after i ahd done a quote.Sunday evening he cancelled to cancell the job, so i started to wind him up.Told him he was in breach of a verbal contract, i had spent time on sunday going to B&Q and buying materials for his job, so he owed me £65 for materials and a £150 a day for loss of earnings, but beibg a reasonable guy i would accept payment for materials.3 days later i got a cheque and a lette of appoligy.

Posted a tread about plastering over linning paper on the 24/2/ , did'nt get the job but it is relvent to this post so bear with me.
The job
Grade 1 building Mayfair 4th floor occupied flat water damage one wall about 12m2.
lime mortar substrate with linning paper and a skim plaster finish, the water has got behind the linning paper and blown the finish, washed away a small section of the lime substrate, damaged area is approx 4m2.
wall is very wet with water staining covering 50% of the wall.

My price, remove finish and linning paper back to the lime mortar substrate between the two internal angles,
Put a de-humidifier in the room to dry out the the wall. Make good the lime motar, thistle bond it, give it a reskim and finally three coats of paint. Allowed four days spread out over two weeks for drying times. £940.00
Price I was up against £350.00
If its not done right they will have lovely black mould all over it in six months time and it will serve them right.

Materials : thislte bond it £50.00, finish £12.00 Bonding £7.00, paint £50.00, rubble sacks £10.00 lots of very clean dust sheets for the common areas of the building (these flats rent out at £700.00 per week) congession charge £40.00 and de-humidifier hire for up to two weeks £100.00.
Between £250.00 and £300.00 in materials if your do the job right, oh there is free parking !
Or you could just cut out the damaged section, patch it in and paint, then take a chance that the rest of the wall do'nt fail and suffer from mould £350.00 is about right.

hack the lot off to lats or wall new boards and scim or four bags of browning barrys spot on there £350 only 12 metres

ive just been to look at a job hsl in bad way cornice repair pipes in way and cupboard under stairs.they have got a plasterer well sort of a rough c**t who cant plaster to save his life.i might of done it in 4 days but more like 5 so including all materials i went in at 700 not cheap not expensive .they nearly choked cud nt believe the price.i asked them why they thought it was expensive and they started going on about this other guy.i said im sorry to have to say this but the other guy is at 2 year standard at best not 30 you get what you pay for they did nt buy it.

Rock that makes me sick ..... I hate ***** like that.

I saw a h/s/l the other day that this couple had done by a guy who had done a 3 day course ... honest I have never seen anything like it, it was horrific.
They wanted a price for me to put it right. honestly I think it would have taken me 2 days of solid prep work and cleaning before I even started the huge task of putting that s**t right.

Im feeling angry just thinking about it
