ping a chalk line round the perimetre of the ceiling off the lowest point of the ceiling and make sure its level you can either run screeds of this or dab pieces of board to the angles using a square and level board of these for youre screeds

i think u would be better off putting a datum line around at about 12" down from the ceiling and use a set squire and mark it from the d line using bonding as dots ,what do u mark me for this kirk
 
Wasnt one of the reasons for this work to be bonded was for the ceiling height if you set screeds wont it bring it down a bit and add unecassery weight to the ceiling and if you can bring it down this much wont it just be better using top hat and 9.5mm board?

I'll settle this, what you need to do is torch it and claim on the insurance, everyones a winner. Failing that lash it on and take the bulb out. Simples ;)
 
there is multiple ways of finishing the final coat of plaster, for sponge finish though the most i will give you is a
B
as it is not recommended by the manufacturer.

but you must understand mr king that it is not only the finish that you are graded on, but also how flat and level the surface is.

your answer did not even brush upon the subject of getting a true surface, hence the F
 
Dont knock it till you have tried it,reckon it would work in flat boys case, mind you i have heard his work is rough too.
