Homemade bucket scoops

f**k mixing up three bags of skim and trying to use it. One at a time for me.
Same here , I use several one bag mixes , pour mixed one on spot then tip bag into next bucket 5 mins before I need it , quick to mix and gives more control on timings for different walls

I don't even mix a whole bag at time. 10ltr. of water in a bucket and mix up. Mix more when I'm ready for it. This is how I've always worked, as my old man did before me. Why would I want three bags of gear all going off at the same rate? I always seemed to get through the work at a decent pace working this way.

I find this technique less labour intensive and easier on the body, I don't do anything out of bravado nor will I do anything that will compromise the quality of the work.

What about big lids?

I remember Richard Brown (remember him?) Describing a method of plastering a large ceiling in a rolling gauge, he even included diagrams if memory serves.
Yes he described exactly what all plasterers would have done back in the day.
When I started in 81 I didn't see a single gang that had a bucket capable of holding a bag mix.
A favourite was the blue Artex Sealer buckets, I think they were twenty litres/four gallons. A real step up from builders buckets or the old galvanised ones.
I'm old aren't I?
