OK lads I'll strike a deal with you, if you tell me your prefered hand held hot cutter for 90mm graphite EPS I'll say where I get my sponges from.
 
For a one off job I would a cheap crafts and model making one of eBay. U can always sell a decent one on again. Try Pft northern I am sure Len sells em
 
I have never done ewi before and would imagine a hot cutter would be the much better tool for the job but, at a pinch could you not use a BAHCO insulation saw cos you get no mess when you use em apart from off cuts obviously.

Hot knife = more money
If you have a brain you can use a saw its not rocket science cutting 90mm EPS board

What happens when you rasp a area down for acrylic ?
Would you use hoovers ?
In 20 years of doing EWI i have never ever ever seen a guy kicked off a job for leaving grey eps balls over a garden.
By the way this is the reason folk cant price jobs right too many people with agendas what to make money

I think that is a very unfair statement to make.

As you know a lot of people don't rasp down the EPS.

I could also push the sale of them but realise hiring maybe a more suitable and cost effective option.

I know of lots of people who have been thrown off site and had complaints made about the EPS Balls floating around the place

Thanks Ryan if you were nearer and we were going to do it in one hit then that would have been good.

That's what we'll probably end up using although I've only used them on Celotex up til now. I just fancied giving the proper tools a go.
We're even going to be using the Ritmo for the first time in over a year!

What companys have put people off ?
I know the weatherby rep for england il ask him if this is true.
People need to rasp EPS as its a STO,Weatherby,alumasc spec from there arylic range
So people get thrown of shite for cutting boards and leaving grey balls even if there work is bang on ?

Mate im being honest you are spending money you dont need to spend
A spay machine is good for new build nothing else
But its your money

Spray machine is good for new build and nothing else? Have you ever used a machine or seen one in action. Plenty being used on social housing projects.....

We'll I used one thought was good tool if you doing it a lot not that I am ,but if I was think I would get one ,how long and how much does it cost to clean up someone's garden?

It's not my place to say who has been thrown off site or had complaints made due to the mess.

If the place next door to you had EWI work being done and it looked like Lapland in your back garden would you be impressed?

Ask the Wetherby rep and I will be very surprised if he doesn't agree with me.

HA ha go and buy one then and get tool box talks on it and give the site agent a method statement with you need it have a PAT tested
with you get a saw for a fiver
 
@essexandy hot k if es are slow mate but if your not doing a lot you might find it worthwhile. There some cheap bow cutters on amazon and can be placed in a workmate and will work fine for what you want but might not last long , but top and bottom of it is you don't really need one, I have not met a crew yet with one. just use a saw , a lot quicker, just messy ,

And i have never seen a squad kicked off a job using one
And i have working for 20 years doing EWI and working in england and scotland and now im a contractors manager with a green deal provider in glasgow
 
marky. firms like carrilion and some others have now stated at tender stage that eps boards must be cut with hot knifes. i was told this by some weber reps that came for a bit of training on machine plastering and how it would work with their systems like M1 which is used alot on social housing.

on a side note sponsors pay money to advertise on the plasterers forum and so you must expect that their services or products will be pushed. a simple response could be given regarding your opinion without the need for acusations and mean comments as this serves no purpose and certainly didn't strengthen your argument.

relax a bit, have a strongbow whilst the suns out
 
Eps needs rasping...... Guaranteed mess there anyway...regardless of whether you use saw or cutter.....
