Hi,

We have just started painting over new skimming
done in the bedroom and can see there are quite
a few surface bumps in the wall.

The plasterer used hardwall in places and then the
multi-finish on top.

To be honest we were not expecting to see obvious
imperfections like these. Can this be fixed with more
plaster on top or does the new skimming need to be
removed to fix this?
The painter said he cannot fix it by sanding, he has
tried several times.

It depends on how bad it is ,easi fill might sort it with the use use of spats,a re skim over it might make it flat with the use of edges and spats, hardto judge from Clapham ,

Without looking at the job it seems the plasterer hasn't skimmed the walls properly.will need re plastering

To true but in the wrong hands these tools don't leave a finish which is to a good standard.
I agree,on reskims I have used the ss while the plaster is still wet and make sure I put plenty on the first coat if the walls are bad to build out any hollows,I only use it to flatten then let it pull in a bit I then use the mt.has worked well but also before I used the speedskim I just used a trowel and it did always work well enough on reskims.

How did you lot actually plaster before speedskim the saviour of the plastering world came about.ffs
with a trowel like I said in the post above:RpS_thumbup:

Do you mean rough skimming or bumpy as in like little bumps? If hard wall was wet and poor plaster who was happy with the water brush, this could cause bumpy/ stipple like plaster
good luck!!
Each to their own on the trowels mt16 all the way..
