hi
ive just had a plasterer round to give me quote and was rather suprised at the price, the room to be skimmed is 4m*3.5m and the ceiling ,could any of you guys tell me what a resonable price for this would be .
thankyou

Is this an overskim job? Is the ceiling being overboarded or just skimmed onto existing. What are the existing surfaces? What height are the walls?

the walls are 2.5 high to be overskimmed there not into bad condition just a lot of hairline cracks. the price was 280 including the plaster dont now about vat

That is very reasonable, like has been mentioned get some other quotes, but i think that's a fair price

lol thats cheap :-) I wouldnt skim a bathroom for that :-)

But get some other quotes though to be sure :-) but dont go for the cheapest :-)

On a side note... how much has plaster gone up.......?!?!?!?!?

My lord I nearly cried when I had a look in Wickes the other day....

how much?

whats the difference between reasonable and cheap? to me thats cheap. reasonable is around 350-400

I just priced a bathroom and a wall to float and set no where the work of that room and priced it at £400 inc mats and got it so £280 for a fair sized room is a good price.

To be quite honest i`d be worried athe quality i d be getting for that price, something has to givem, and its normally the standard of finnish

Kebab King - I dunno, most spreads could knock that out in a day, so 280 is good money for 3sets.. I personally dont, not cos I cant but because I prefere to take it more easy on domestic as stuff can sometimes go wrong, I do rooms that size over two easy days, hence the £400+ mark if it were me, but just proving the point that it doesnt mean the guys work is s**t :)

Now 3 hits for £280 is pushing it, i know it can be done, i have done it myself. But hand on heart its probably not finnished quite as well as if id lsowed down and done properly. Its probably going to be a reskim,so your beading, waiting for pva to tack up sheet out etc, so 3 hits is a late day, or your cutting corners,3 hits on all new board work id agree.

come on 3 hits? get the lid and a wall on in 1 and finish the other 3 up in the afternoon.

Its how you want to work, it can be done in one hectic day or two easy days, i know which way i would go.

That sounds like a very fair price. £280.00 to skim x 4 walls & the ceiling and Inclusive of all materials. That's a cheap price.

£75 a wall i charge for an average living room/bedroom ,£130 for a ceiling, then chuck the mats on top then a £10 diesel....
