What would you do if someone lived in a large Georgian house and asked you to skim a wall 9m long by 3.4m high?

For a room i charge £1.20 to carry each item of materials, tools, dustsheets etc into the property from my lorry, then I charge 99p to lay each dustsheet & 20p for every time the old lady asks me if I want a cup of tea(time is money).
Then I'll charge £2 rent for each item I use on the job - sheets, steps, spongefloat etc.
Then I'll charge £25 per hour for them having the pleasure of me in their house & also my skilled workmanship.
Then I go off for materials & get paid for this aswell, but really I go for a pie & some batter bits & a can of diet coke.
I make sure the job lasts at least a week so that I get extra monies.
:RpS_thumbsup:

I'd be double that price at least. Ask the plasterer to price some easy fill into the job, u'll need it when it drys out.

Just because someone's price is lower than you does not mean that their finish will be any different to your's.

Exactly this...

Really don't know how some of you guys get prices of £500 plus to skim a room, must plaster a wall a day lol....u could take 3 days at that price....

Everybody wants skilled tradesmen to work for f**k all, quoted a lot of jobs lately and went in at reasonable rate as not to rob anybody and still not got them, Might as well go and stack shelves do at Aldi, for the same kind of money people want to pay.
If a gas fitter turns up to look at a boiler he can charge what he wants, we have to graft in this game and try and justify what we're charging. As for working for builders on extensions by the time it gets to plastering stage moneys getting tight, so plasterer gets squeezed.
Tough game to be in, I knew I should have become a porn star!!!!! LOL

I know what you mean Spunky I hate private work also but if you're going to price them why not just price them at a level that you would be bothered to do them. If you don't get them no worries and if you do happy days.

You would be surprised what people will pay for plastering let us not forget this is the trade that most people wouldn't attempt and respect as highly skilled. At the end of the day it doesn't matter how good you are at your trade if you are no good at business and sales your unlikely to ever make good money in this game.
