I've been working with 2 other spreads all week and I'm reali confused how i should be plastering now.

1st spread will lay on quick flatten and then mix up and bk on..

2nd spread will mix up lay it on ruff ass then use the same mix most of the time to lay straight on with no waiting around!!!!!!

and me i lay on go back flatten off then go around cleaning all the edges and waiting till its quite firm then second coat..... takes a while.. the other guy seems to get there sets done much quicker!

am i doin it wrong.. ?

i just feel bad to smash a new coat on when its still wet!

wait for the first coat to go off before you put a trowel on it ..........how much are you paying them mate?..........get rid of one of them and take me on :)

Hes probably laying on thin 1st coat........laying on second straight away but due to it thin probably setting a little quicker and not showing tiger stripes ( which can happen if 1st coat aint set enough due to it being thicker and setting a little slower.......dunno if i explained that well enough or in complete double dutch lol)......or just get spunky in as his comedy genius is worth a day rate alone even before he lifts his trowel ;o)

ok ok the jobs urs already,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, thing is thet can bag sets out doin this! F it im tryin it ta moro

theres a world of difference between reskims and setting on board, 4 bag set on board ain't too much of a push but i don't go any bigger than 2 and half on a reskim.

through it on flatten lay in with new gear as soon as flat and 2nd coat is really thin then trowel up 2nd 3rd etc now dont tell me im doing it wrong cause i dont give a @@@@ because its my way and thats the cue for a song if ive ever heard one

tiger stripes, that must be a course thing. i one coat if i can get away with it ;D ;D ;D before any of you say anything i would recommend checking first. multi is designed as onecoat system so there.

i get customers sitting behind me watching so i feel ive gotta explain what im doing and find myself going 'well some lads just one coat everything, get paid and f'ck off, me i two coat everything, proper job'.... then wish i'd kept my big gob shut cos im on a bit of board and one coat would have done just fine ;D
i still two coat everything though :-\

U never heard of Tiger stripes my good man all the rage in Africa?
anyway......Is its WAS designed as a 1 coat system but they realised it couldnt easily be applied by hand thick enough on reskims for a good finish and so suggest a 2 coat application.......unless i suppose u have one of those beautiful Rimtos to spray it on with...........you scoundrel

fill ya beads/joints first if your 1 coating
needs to be a decent sized set though cos two walls time youve got em on its still wet round the beads innit..
thats why i always end up 2 coat on domestic..
im gonna end up supergluing a bit of that stiff sponge that goes hard when it dries out to a float just for round the beads so i can one coat everything... just round the beads like

I did a couple of houses using the one coat method some years ago (when BG said to) but found that to get the required thickness on in one coat the gear needed to be that much rounder that it was harder work putting it on neat and tidy and quickly. The finish could still be just as good as two coat work but on balance I preferred to go back to two coat work apart from when I have a bit of gear left over going a bit stiffer at the end of a hit, then I throw on a small ceiling or wall to save waste and it wont hold you up at the end of the hit.

so end off do you think its OK to slap second coat straight on when still wet (bar the beads and door frame)

not really.... slapping it on while its wet, as in when you touch it it leaves a spike as opposed to a print is just like one coating anyway?
best thing mate... try it your way, try it someone elses way, save the best of both and develop your own happy medium ;)
