How to fix this crack?

Hi all,

I had this wall skimmed a while ago by a plasterer and it was fine until recently (didn't get around to finishing the room yet), but then it developed a lot of small cracks over the entire height of the wall next to the corner. I realised something must be going on underneath, so I ripped everything (multifinish, tape and some sort of polyfilla) with a chisel to uncover this crack, see the pictures.

What is the best way to fill and fix it? I've been thinking about either foaming the gap or squeezing mortar in there from a cone shaped plastic bag. Then tape and apply either polyfilla or easyfill on top across entire 20cm section.

The left side of the crack is pretty stable but the right side is quite crumbly, there is some hair in it, so I suppose that's lime plaster? Will have to scrape all the flaky bits off first of course, but wondering what to do next

Off she comes, possibly stitch it, definitely E M L at the least and go again.

Wtf was your plasterer skimming over that shitt anyway?
If he had anything about him he’d of advised you not to skim over that and replace the whole lot.
Or did he…,and you said no because you haven’t got the budget?
Why do some people think that a coat of skim solves everything?
Skim will only ever be as good as the substrate it’s going on

He didn't say anything. It's our first renovation, so we didn't know what to do/expect. He did a pretty bad job despite having 100+ 10-star reviews on checkatrade and having NVQ Level 4 in Plastering (that's what he claims at least...), so we didn't pay him half of what he asked for. Now I realize we shouldn't have paid him at all. At least we didn't entrust him with the entire flat, wanted to see how he would do some small things first.

Knock off all that lime plaster all the way to masonry? Do you think we should do that for the entire wall or just this section is enough?

Checkatrade says it all
Obviously hasn’t got a good enough reputation to get work word of mouth and has to rely on rip off referral sites to get work where reviews can be faked
