I have a job where the wall coverings need to be fairly hard wearing in terms of light knocks and things rubbing against them, and also water proof and wipe clean. Tiles are out because of the grout lines, so there are the usual perspex sheets over the wall, or there's a resin which gets rolled on. I was trying to think of some/any alternatives and wondered if micro cement may be an option.

Does it create a hard surface when on? i.e. will it take small knocks?
I take it that it can be sealed to provide a wipe clean surface?
Without getting into the 'pricing' argument, what's the range for supplied and applied per square metre?

Not into modern products , sand cement and lime followed by garage floor paint

It would be the perfect option for your needs. Some are actually waterproof without the sealer however it protects the colour in the product ad without the sealer the colour would fade over time. Micro is hard wearing and will take a knock. Price wise depends quite a lot on product, finishand applicator cost buy I would say the cheapest price per metre would be about 70 quid. Hope this helps

Could use thistle dura finish 60% tuffer than normal skim coat and looks nice unpainted , light grey

It needs to be wipe clean and waterproof so whatever is used will have to be waterproof in it's own right, or will need sealing with something hard wearing. The current favourite is an epoxy resin paint over plaster so maybe worth looking at durafinish as the skim if it goes that way.

They've used white perspex in other areas previously but that works out quite expensive, and it doesn't look as neat as a painted finish.

I'm not sure what you'd class as a modern product, but epoxy resin has been in commercial use since the mid 1940's?

Never done anything other than s/c/l so perhaps modern not the right word , have used garage floor pair in a shower bathroom of mine and good hard wearing result

I think most of the decent floor paints available are epoxy resin, so it's probably the same stuff.

Vision went blurred at the point of micro cement lol

I was just curious about it really. I've only read about it, never seen it used on a job so wondered if it was worth considering for this.

Any change from Board and multi would need to go to the architect to get his OK and required spec. They're always happy to stick their noses in to that sort of sh1te but as soon as it gets technical then they're asking for advice. Tossers the lot of 'em. :)

My shower was board and multi , had the house for 5 yr and no probs

Not got many but here's the current state if the bathroom. Polished ceiling. Tadelakt walls to 3 sides. Vesuvio rock wall (venetian) to shower wall. Micro cement floor. Just got to seal the floor then I can fit the bathroom

Fair one. It does look a lot better than in pictures. It's quite dark but that's what my missus wants. The white sink and toilet should stand out nicely
