they have clean air vent systems running through them usually taking the old stale air and turning it into good clean air that can be heated aswell if needs be

I've put hardwood sash windows back into my house. Nice bit of draught! b*ll***s to all this plastic sealed up sh1te.

Im building a house at the moment, we are aiming for a highly airtight building. The windows are hardwood. Airtight does not have to mean plastic SH*TE.

You can,t beat a sash window ,even when the curtains are horizontal with the wind :RpS_unsure:

My folks have a Victorian town house, and I'm not kidding when I say it's warmer out than in. My dad had to fabricate a pipe and have it coming out of the floorboards pointing towards the fire so it didn't suck air from under the door/window/etc.
Jeez that house is cold - wake up wi ice on the insides of the windows, getting undressed and dressed in bed (keep yer clothes under the duvet to keep warm).

Our lass moans when it's a bit cold at ours and sticks the heating on - I'm bloody warm!

when me and the missus had just had our first daughter we was renting a lovley flat in an old mansion the place was huge, put it this way we had a 15 ft christmas tree and i think i cut about a foot off of it to fit it in lovley big open fire place in bedroom and living room only problem was the sash windows diddnt fit properly and same as rhys's post we had ice on the inside the storage heaters broke and the landlord never fixed them despite constant hounding from us, the baby ended up getting sick and we had to move out during the winter months it got to the point where the baby had to be put in the thermal carry cot from the pram in a full onsie with vest and jumper in the bed in between me and the missus cuddling her with the duvet over her and she still got sick:RpS_crying:
