Is this a bad job?

I had my hall plastered last year and was wondering what your opinions were of this?

I'm sorry that I don't have before pictures as I didn't expect what I consider a poor job.

To be clear the walls were pretty level beforehand and I just couldn't believe how it turned out.

Before starting the job he promised his work would be, and I quote:

"Perfect smooth to paint no prep required"

I have even have the Whatsapp conversation still on my phone

The plasterer himself promised to come back and fix it, but he just messed me about for months and never came back out in the end.

The fact he acknowledged there was a problem says it all and I've already had a plasterers opinion, but I just wanted as many peoples viewpoint on this as possible.

That's usually what it looks like before you get someone in to plaster it. You're going to need to buy an orbital sander and spend a day and a lot of sandpaper all over it or get it reskimmed
 
Ouch, that is really bad. Was he working in the dark when he was Skimming it? So many issues with it I think it needs to be a full re-Skim mate. It looks like the first coat dried too fast and wasn't flat enough hence all the lines and tiger stripes.

They don't look like tiger stripes, just looks like its not flat. He couldn't of been skimming long or skimmed onto wet PVA
 
It's bad mate but with all due respect what can you do now it's a year since its been done should have made him com back straight away

You're right about the tiger stripes mate, I looked again at the photos and its not stripes it's much worse than that. To be honest the walls can't have been that straight before it was Skimmed but that should have been addressed before it was Skimmed ie the worst bits filled out with a bonding coat. If it was done a year ago there is no way he's going to come back and fix it.

True mate. I gave up quite a while ago and got a good plasterer in to fix it, but I just wanted advice as to how bad you all thought it was.

They genuinely were more flat than his finished plaster. The brand new gyprock he installed and skimmed over is all bumpy too so thats the acid test and he failed at that too.

I didnt even attempt to try and fix it. I got a good plasterer in to skim it. Ideally I'd like to name and shame him but I'm not sure if that is acceptable on this forum or not.
 
I wish I had known about this forum last year but I only got told about it fairly recently so this is all academic at this point, but I still wanted to get it off my chest.

Ignore the fact I was under the impression that Brian was his name. I didn't find out until later his name is actually Andrew Sinclair

Did you take the paper off? It’s a cracking job :lol:
