:) Isn't using lime plater a specialist job? I'm not sure if these guys have used lime. I've read Limelite is a good alternative and easier to use. Is that true?
I honestly don't know what's invovled and don't have a lot of experience/knowledge about this stuff (I'm your average joe and I just google stuff) hence I came here to ask professional plasterers.
 
No hardwall or British gypsum plasters should touch that external wall i see you have withheld £750, my free advice has finally run out if you want to know the best way and right products to use to get this job done properly it will cost £100, bank transfer will be fine

Yeah that's what I gathered. There have been a number of helpful replies from a few posters including yourself which is much appreciated.
I will suggest Limelight to the plasterer. Not sure if he has used it before. Is it easy enough to use for your average plasterer? Anything they need to do differently?

I don't want to go around in circles. I have already explained the situation. I don't have much confidence in these guys anymore. He's already offered to re-do with Hardwall but apparently it's not suitable either.
I think he and hig guys are average plasterers and I'm not sure he's used Limelite before. I want to move forward with this and get them to remedy as much as they can.

If he's an average plasterer the trade is in a worse state than I realised.

Yes I would put these guys in that category. Obviously had we known that we wouldn't have hired them. Anyway it doesn't seem to be the worst job.

Mate, can you please tell me if Limelight is easy enough to use for your average plasterer? Anything they need to do differently?

Make sure they finish it with a efflange trowel
 
I don't know what they look like. I think they had those big Refina trowels.
If he uses Limelite it will be to build the wall back up and then multifinish will go on top. So does it matter if it's (Limelight plaster) smooth or whatever?

Yeah it's the same process the backing coat will need to cure before it can be skimmed over so can't be done in one visit and some people are just pulling your chains haha
 
Can you use multi finish on limelight? Thought the idea of not using bonding/hardwall is because of the gypsum drawing the damp

Here’s a tip/bet for u, if he can’t finish skim to a half decent finish, I bet @caspers 2 stripped sports van he’s got no chance with limelight lol
 
The plasterer said he'll use sand/cement as the backing coat. I was happy with it because I had seen that suggested in lots of places for external walls.
