Maybe handboards a yank thing ?
There you go, hawks actually a yank thing
Then how did it get called a hawk, which is the name of the tool. If you didn't know it was called a hawk you'd probably describe it as a board you hold in your hand. My theory is place's that call it a handboard were the least educated so just called it from what it looked like. Now if they'd been able to read then they would have known that its called a hawkIt must have been referred to as a hand board originally

That actually says that he patented a holding hawk with a detachable handle, not the idea of a hawk.Mabye ask the man who invented it
Of course that's entirely incorrect as it was a hawk long before some slack jaw illiterate couldn't spell hawk.nah it was more likely some poncey pretentious twart sat thinking how can I make what tools I use sound more pretentious and a hawk was born.
it's a bit like fooking plumbers calling themselves heating engineers poncey fookers.
Probably wanted to call it the majik multi skim holder 3.I call it a hawk but there is no way someone made one and said “I’ll call this a hawk”
No way.Maybe we should all agree to call it a hawk board
