I've only been plastering on my own for about a year, I had a guy doing it for me before that, over 6 years or so he's taught me, I then did a short 3 week course just to ensure I was proficient before he retired, I specialise in damp proofing so very rarely skim more than the metre high that's knocked off, I've joined the forum to pick on any tips or tricks really.

Why did you do a three week course after six years

Not sure really, I suppose working with someone who was showing me and then having him there day in day out, he was quite old school and I sort of felt I had learnt his way, so I wanted to see if newer techniques were available, which I did learn in the speed skim system.

We have a member on here can only skim one metre high without a ladder.

Oh dear, oh deary deary me.

3 week course?

hmm GIF

I don't know what the problem is, I know I can plaster, including full walls and ceilings, which I have done, I was taught by a guy who has been doing it for 45 years, as I said he was very old school, I went on the course to see if techniques and tools had changed and/or improved which in some ways they have. I've never had to return to a job, but I have had to redo plenty of damp proofing jobs after plasterers who think they know what they're doing have been in and made a balls of it because they haven't got a clue how to properly diagnose different types of damp and there causes.
