So, currently into the last few weeks of my terminal leave before leaving the Royal Navy, and after being detailed off by my wife, what better way to spend than removing wall paper?
It had a hairline crack on the paper and various old picture hooks removed by the previous owner that had caused a few spots of blown plaster where these were.
After removing the paper using warm soapy water it became apparent the plaster was in very poor state and actually came off by hand.
It's what lay beneath that was worse. The sub surface just crumbled away and felt damp to the touch to the point I can get to bare brick.
It's about 25-40mm deep so I'm looking for advice as to what to do exactly?
I feel the issue may be historic and was unable to breathe as the plaster was dry as was the lining paper, but it's how to get it back to that depth and look somewhat normal again?
Just after advice as to how to rectify this please? Many thanks.
