1 fella even asked me to look at a site for him ...his skimmers are shite hes giving them £2.20 and needs a hand picking the standards up.
I said id look if i get time but im not skimming anything for less than £2.80.

My brother stopped answering his calls to his old boss....the prick waited outside his house till he finished work to ask him

They still think we're in the heart of the recession and can take the piss with prices. Granted I work in a squad so don't know the ins an outs of rates atm, but I know yous get better rates than we do, but still, if it's like here, the problem is there is some that are willing to kill themselves for very little and that drives rates down....
 
We should near be best paid tradesmen, for we out our backs, shoulders, elbows, wrists and knees on the line in our Job, whereas Sparks or plumbers are usually best paid. I've never seen a spark in a hurry yet, only time see them sweat is if they are in a warm loft on homers lol

Rates improving a little, but on domestic I still get the odd eyebrow lift or the "I need to sit down" when I give a price there and then, and not that I'm over the top with prices. People don't understand the fundamental principles behind running a business because they're PAYE well most of them anyway, so all they have to do is turn up on time and put the kettle on and get their wage on the dot every month.
 
I know there is a big rate divide across the country but those rates are poor, wouldn't like to say what I'm getting right now
 
I've been just to quote a job just have to float the internal of a house. Just get it ready for skimming it's sand and cement. What do you lads get in the UK just for float hardwall or sand and cement

I get a between £8 and £9 to float and set so I'm guessing half just to float, up north I think it's about 32p

I just got 8 for float and set s&c oop north proper !(and prob could of got 9) and I charge not far off what you are for skimming. Luckily the builders I do abit for realise there are not that many up here that can float proper.

Really to float and set £8. f**k I thought I was to cheap at €8 that's £7 just to float. Am starting to think am a hungry c**t
 
Not sure think it's between 6 n 7 here atm, not hundred percent sure. Boy used. Work for subbed it out for 4.80 float n set, that was his rates up a bit too. You'd look sweet Killin yourself for that, not sure what he pays now. Was 2700 before tax on 1800 sq foot house, think 3m ceilings downstairs too. Outfit we are in with I think is Roughly 2.25 a sq foot.

Too many firms around all trying to undercut each other for the sites, it's stupid. And too many skimmer kids who think they are clever.

I've been happy with 120-175 a day here for the last while. Have few jobs to price and priced them at 250 a day for me, 150 for the labourer and 200 for the other men on it. (they'll really get 80-100 thou). Just testing the water with these prices see how I get on.
 
Aye, the west got hit really badly in the recession, though like everywhere, lots of men went to Oz or that, so should be in higher demand now there less tradesmen there. Mate id say your prices are better than Up here lol. Though think boy work for charges little over 300 for a 2and1 on day rate. Average wage here is anything from 60-90home.most atm 70-80 after tax. Finally creeping back up Gain at long last. Too many willing to undercut and work for enough to pay bills. Sickening lol

Where are you based ? 60-90 euro after tax, id want atleast 100 after tax and that is the min. Been getting 150 a day for my stone cash and finished a renovation where i did everything from new chimney, ripped out all subfloors, new UF insulation,concrete,screed, plumbing,lam floors, painted it, doors on, whole new wet room, some skimming old style and lots of slabbering work. HAd one or two on with me now and again. IT kind of spirialed and run on but was fair and only charged 150 a day for me and thats doing all the running about sorting materials and other stuff etc... I could have charged more and got it but thought f**k it, just be fair. She was well happy with the work and even thou the costs run over, she paid up without a peep because she understood how much effort i put in. Not like some here in the west where they huff and puff when its time to sq up. Have even had some say can they owe me it after all extras been put on lol

I was just always happy with the work after what we went through her because it was tough to say the least. Now that im getting more and more to price, im changing tactics and going for it. If i get them, will be quids in, if not, dont give a f**k because will always have some to fall on. Eventually thou, i want to be building them myself but few years away from that yet because of the costs of a house here. Madness what it takes to finish one now :(
