K Rend application process

Hi lads,

What is the normal process for applying a silicone based render from K Rend? Someone is willing to do the job using a machine but I'm wanting to know if a base coat and mesh would still be needed when applying with a machine?

I'd like to clue myself up on here before I start with the questions. He could be telling me anything and I wouldn't know any different!

Whoever the guy is doing your work surely you done a bit of research on him or if he was a recommendation? Seems like you need to have a bit of trust in the plasterer if you're doubtful that he ain't telling you right why did you hire him?

He was a recommendation, seen some of this work too. However, he tried telling me that a base coat wouldn't be needed as he's applying with a machine! Sounded a little sus to me hence why I've asked the question on here.

Put a pic up of the job?

what's it going onto mate new block, brick etc normally over new block they will spray it on over 15mm beads to stop ghosting it will need a base coat then 10mm beads over the top all depends on the background mate as said by flynny

On brick as said above base and mesh.

He might be considering using a primer like r7 or r10. Thats like Parex’s Microgobetis. That will work but he ought to fully mesh. K rend K1 is known for its cracking.

Buy it off Rendit if you are up North and they will repair it if it cracks. Costs a bit more but worth it with K Rend. Needs to be 15mm beads as well.

Thanks for the input guys. It’s safe to say with that information don’t think I will be using him. Found someone that will be carrying out the full process including the base and meshing.

You can always get a spec from @K Rend and then you know for sure

I don’t think we do. If you ring Direct Building Supplies in Bradford or Rendit in Doncaster they will advise what base coat you needand quote to supply.

Oh right it's you again you cumstick always asking for help but won't pay for it!!! Driving to and from job really quickly
