No Q.S on this contract it's a private job, fair enough you can coat 80=100m2 on a good day with Sand/Cement but it's a different story with other products, it should be atleast £20m2 labour only for the specialist stuff.

K Rend is easy and simple to use, never had a problem applying by hand, it lays up easy, rules fine, floats well and sponges up fine, and if scratching, generally holds up well for the scrape.

Have applied it regularly for 14-16 yrs now, and yes there are certain things that could catch you out, but you like any product you get to know it pretty well and understand its properties.

Large panels , small panels etc, no problems. It is essentially the closest product in make up to trad sand and cement, and like i said earlier- just because its in a bag doesn't make it a magical product.

I've always used plastic water tanks, easy takes 7-9 bags, I use a couple of the larger tanks that take 12-13 bags esp for com rend and ft or silicone com rends

i dont use any barrels etc these days to be fair, its a mugs game plonking it on by hand. get a machine.
and k rend is piss poor compared to the parex of this world.

How do you find the one coat system when putting it on Jasper?

One coat over what? Block, insulation?

Krend is a two coat render, silicone render, com rend etc

Two passes on block work of 5-6mm, thicker if scratching back, two 5mm passes if floated plain finish. One coat only if your applying hp12 as a scratch coat, but at 10mm on the scratch.

Can be floated fairly soon after applying, just keep an eye on it, and keep excess moisture when sponging away from the wall(blooming). Once finished on final sponge, leave alone, as touching in with sponge will shade it.

Got a machine, but Comrend S wont spray from the F***er!

Parex is beautiful as is cantillana monocouche. Krend is def a poor mans render imo

They have a new product out it's a one coat system it goes straight onto the block as long as it's a 7 newton block (not so much suction) you just apply it 10m then double it up to with a second coat then you scratch it with the floats the next morning,,,it's all the rage.

are you not just thinking of standard mono,it is one coat but two pases ie wet on wet.

I never do two passes, just full thickness bands with the odd squirt here and there if too low before spat. Is there an advantage of going over the same area twice?

I've never used k rend but I have a job booked in for summer and now the guy wants to use krend, I was thinking about doing the course on the k rend website because I've read good and bad stories. What do you guys think about the course they do?? Any point in doing it or is it just the same as using S&C???

you want practical experience not just mainly theory, which you will get on the k rend course, as said go and work with a gang to get a feel for it,i wouldnt just tackle a project cold with no experience of the product, because youll cock it up

My first mono job was by hand and never again! Never had slumping like it!

For my first few machine jobs I got an experienced hand in.

Its an expensive product to get wrong.

So whats the knack to laying it on a large area by hand and avoiding halos etc...a constant supply of krend mixed to the perfect consistency and keeping a wet edge?

I had a halo ring on a job I was gutted...almost at eye level, it was where I was tired, the labourer gave me a piss wet mix, thought i'd get away with it doing the second pass and it went on 2 thin in one area. I told the customer it was a blessing from God on there house.

So how many m2 of your first pass would you lay on before dropping back to do second pass? and do you u scratch or use serrated edge on 1 st pass or go straight over?

How do you get the thickness Bod with 1 coat does it not just slump?

Like i said use parex instead of k-rend it dont sump and just mix it up stiffer bang it on one coat you dont get any ghosting at all.
