large ceiling roses, how to fit.

Draw an outline around the rose where you want the rose to go then find your joists within the outline.
Use a straight edge and draw along the joist/s extending beyond the outline.
reposition the rose and mark where the joist lines are.
Put on a bench and drill anywhere between the marks but more than a 1/4 from the edge unless absolutely necessary.
Might sound obvious but don't use screws that can rust.
 
cheers mate, thats what i was going to do with marking out the joist, you just explained it a lot better than i did lol but sounds a good idea to then replace the rose and mark and drill on the bench rather than just trying it straight off the bat like i was going to lol

No worries
As others have said, countersink the holes for screws but make sure its strong enough to hold, sometimes they can be like eggshells in places.

they were lol

all done, used dri wall adhisive in end and 4 screws in each, lets hope they stay up lol . got some pics too but who want to see those!? lol
