Did you prick it first with a coat of bonding ??
Then mix bond/skim get the shape then coat of skim.
Plastic trowel finish.

Yes to bonding. No to mixing bonding with skim... I was laying on ceiling, wall, reveals too, some of which was board. Dammit, maybe I should have just put this on on its own. Thanks love! Something to think on
