Lime Plaster inside when cement render outside - worthwhile?

Hello,

A newbie here looking for some advice on whether it is a waste to use 'breathable' plaster inside our property when the external has a cement render?

Our property is 1800 stone built and the building survey on purchase flagged the risks of trapping moisture inside due to the cement render on the outside. There is We are now at the stage of redecorating inside and are weighing up use of breathable plaster on the external walls - is this a waste when the moisture is trapped by the cement render anyway?

We are slightly put off by replacing the cement render as have been told to expect this to cost 50k+!

At least if you use lime on the inside the wall can breath , otherwise you will then sandwich any moisture, so yea I’d be inclined to use lime on the internal walls !

Can tell everyone thinks the 50k is nuts - it's a 6 bedroom house. What should i expect (per sqm) to remove and then re-render as a ballpark?

Where in the borders are you ? And the price may sound nuts but, no one here has seen it. A sqm price would include loads of variables like scaffold, access, height, do quoins have to be formed, do bands have to be formed, location etc etc. Oh and how many sqm do you reckon there are on the external walls ?

We are currently re-rendering a large detached, the final bill will be north of 50k.
We don't know the variables, let alone a good chunk of that will be vat, plus scaffold alone could be 10% of the quote.
