Lime plasterer required - rising damp in clunch wall

Hi,

I'm having some problems with rising damp in my clunch property. When it rains the ground floor party wall feels damp all along up to approx 1m high, and never really completely dries out. I've scraped off some of the paint and it looks to be pink gypsum plaster underneath. Interestingly, none of the other walls on the ground floor have the same problem, and from talking to my neighbour the other side of the party wall is fine.

I understand that putting gypsum on clunch causes all sorts of issues, and wondered whether hacking off the plaster and replacing with lime would potentially solve the damp problem?

This is not something I want to try doing myself, so if anyone specialising in lime plastering and clunch walls happens to be close to Burwell, Cambridgeshire, please get in touch!

Lime and cement based dehumidifying thermal plaster could be considered in your application.
