Find the thread on here about breaking in trowels. Useful info. Very quick.Put my MT carbon to use this week.
As a novice, I found it awkward at first to lay on as its a new trowel its very flat and I haven't got years of technique. A bit frustrated, so resorted back to my old faithfull Tyzack for the first day. Tried it again the 2nd day for flattening off. Bit better this time and by end of the day was starting to get a bit of curve to the blade. Anyway, last couple of sets on 3rd day, thought f**k it and used it solely for laying on and flattening. On the 3rd set, it just started to feel really comfortable. Gear just laid on flatter, quicker and even just the sound of the blade on the multi sounded better than ever before. Perhaps that's just me being weird!
One of those moments when I felt like Id taken 2 steps forward and felt more relaxed and even managed to get a crafty fag in between 1st and 2nd coats
Still going to take ages to break it in, but happy so far. Thanks guys

Sand and cement.Thats the way plasterers have always wore in trowels.Yes there is short cuts with Japanese stones and "ready to go" trowels, but the sand and torment was always the old way.Actually please do, I have searched and no joy. All these new trowels have left me with too many that need wearing in.

Your better off,it's pure hardship working after some of the block layers around my way.Agreed I been using it last week for it but there's a lot of metal to come off a new xtralite that's not the pre worn type, and there really isn't the amount of sand and cement work there used to be........ at least not in my world anyways
It's Vince. He's a total knob jockeyI get the carbon n coke thing

But at what stage does the lipstick come into play??
