Need a bit of advice. Customer is having a log burner put in. I need to stick beads so can skim the face of the chimney but what beads can I use and what adhesive? I have been given vitcas fire proof plaster by the log burner company to skim in inside which has been cement boarded.

Thanks

Are you a plasterer?

Form corners, hold up temporary straight edge, work off it - then return it.

Old school.

I just used hardwall on the face of mine with render mesh embedded in it with 10mm SS stop beads where it meets the brickwork of the opening. A lot will depend on how close the stove is to the sides of the opening and how close front to back.
I didn’t want to use victas after hearing what a pita it is to use, plus expensive, so chanced my arm and it’s been fine.

Obviously not a customers job though.

Good reply because I've done a good few same way bomb proof that system is
it’s not bomb proof -it eventually fails ,it is not the right procedure around a wood burner ,any real qualified plasterer knows, gypsum plaster -expands /contracts with temp fluctuations _= cracks, . It’s seems those who are happy to have been bumped for thousand ,for a a wood burner ,then expect a a cheap solution for the work ..

Well that’s set the record straight. Right, I’m pulling the stove out and putting it in the middle of the living room next week. Flu can go straight through the middle of our bed.
