grand im from yorkshire , where you from, im not saying machine plastering is better than hand balling, it has its place in plastering. done it for the last 4 years , its fecking great for pre bagged renders , 3 man gang pumping render from ground floor up to 6 th or 7th floor apartments, in about 1 half hours to 2 hours work, 80 to 100 metres , try that one by hand in one day, no chance. internals . its cleaner than what people think if you no what your doing, but i have to say once again dont like knauff , prefer british gypsum 1 coat. been on handboard and trowell 4 last month again , by have i missed that , its been a pleasure to go back to it.
 
there is no argument,maybe a difference of opinion,you lads with machines price for different work to me ,all im saying is machines aint going to take over any thing, theve got a place but remember youve got to have a good spread to drive one!
 
gmw you're correct, it aint no good giving a machine to a to a bad back and blisters merchant,it helps if you're a bit switched on anyway.
 
Sprayin is generally well quick, had one of my guys out on a domestic job yesterday, one room (pretty big, old victorian house), took a couple of hours. the mud we use dries well fast aswell.

Pumps are pretty expensive but well worth it if you ask me, especially if you're looking to cut down on time and labour costs. From my experience aswell, people like it a lot more if you can tell them you'll take half the time of doing it by hand. If you need to learn how to use one, we can show you!
 
Its a skim-coat plaster. The background can be bonding, hardwall, render, plasterboard, pre-finished surfaces (ie painted walls or artexed ceilings). Basically its a pre-mixed skim coat plaster, 2mm thickness that can be sprayed through a high-end airless pump, Graco Mark V etc

seen a gang use this system once, quality was that shite they got kicked off the site, mind you they turned out to be just painters and decorators,when i asked them about plastering materials and methods they where puzzled. but just looked at the vid on allteck , i suppose it has its place for textured finishes. cant see how they can get a good finish with these spats

im of the same opinion andy, these machines will not make you a plasterer they may put it on the wall but anyone can put it on the wall. ive just watched the video and i believe they are shite.
 
textured ceilings are making a come back ;D........cool it should give us some work in a few years, were like ants in this country trying to eat through the work as fast as poss, good luck to who's doing it but imo keep it old fashioned, keep us all going and keep the skill .......it'll be a labourers job and the same thing will happen they work out what a good lad does in a day and price work will be crap ........the only person who wins is the chap selling the machines and the main contractor
 
your dead right flynny any one can put it on the wall same as machine the real skill comes in finishin the product, all the machine does is take the donkey work out of plastering, not the skill, spats flattern the plaster you still need to trowl it up the same as hand applied.
 
plus the cost of jointing the boards ......what does it pay per m if you spray it?
 
these systems will happen eventually, its not down to the likes of us, it comes from the contractors , if they can get the same finish cheaper they will ,so the only question is do you jump on the bandwagon or do you get left behind.
 
to me it seems specialist stuff inc the machine so good for the few doing it and if we do get dragged into it thats life lads arent going to spend 8 grand on a machine and turn work down, i just dont like the thought of contractors filling their pockets :(
 
i know wot u mean m8, hate it wen the contractor turns up suited up in a flash motor, but if it makes commercial sense to use these systems they will, machines will come down in price the more of us use them, you can buy a second hand g4 from europe for bout 4000 euros

Sadly that make sense to me .
 
i guarantee i could finish a lot quicker without that machine, do you think you could tape and bead up then skim the next that day and make it pay, i doubt it and remember your not all gonna get a good run to make it pay and if theres bits not ready what are they gonna pay for that, will you have to set the machine up for one wall you couldnt touch coz the spark or plumber wasnt finished. You cannot beat the handboard and trowel its been around for? machines for rendering have their advantages but not when there sat in the shed.:)
 
i know its an airless sprayer , just makin a point in general, we used to skim office blocks where ther was bout 500m in each they was ready(good organization) i doubt if you could skim one of those quigker by hand flynny. your right they wont take over every situation but they will take over commercial development , because they are cheaper.
 
wouldnt it be a lot quicker to spray . mmm . wheels have been around for donkeys years , but theyve got quicker with an engine on them. used a g4 for last 4 years and thats been in constant use and never been stood in a shed. if there was a machine for bg board finish i would rather invest in one than use hand board and trowel.
 
what about the ritmo andy i know bg have made a rotor and stator for les to test he said it was better than pft ones
 
yes i no about the ritmo , but has les said it still orange peels. my opinion is . i think bg should be developing a product for the machine , you tried a ritmo grand .
 
if there anyone round the north west area that wouldnt mind showing me how to set up a machine ie: presures, water flow an cleaning up, ill provide free labour for a couple of days an ill even buy the beer at the end of the day!!
