Marks when bright light shines down artex wall ?

I skim artex week in week out. I love how often people f**k it up.

I’ve seen 10mm skim over artex show the artex pattern through.

Skim n bonding to cover pattern. Let pull in to the point it’s near enough set. Then 2 tight coats of skim from same mix. Flawless victory every time

So basically cover the pattern with bonding coat then 2 coats of multi over top ? Don’t you wait for the bonding to set ?

bonding will hang too long. Bonding and skim mixed together bout 70 skim 30 bonding. Big areas i do 50:50.

Use it to cover pattern. Flatten off. Leave till firm but not fully set. Knock up skim. Put 2 tight coats from same mix on. Flatten. Finish.

Lurpak is bang on with a pattern like that your trying to cover you need to use the magic mix I use to just use bonding coat 2 coats and let it pull in untill almost set then 2 tight coats of skim it wasn't until I started working domestics fulltime a fellow spread told me about the magic mix and it makes the whole difference to your work

Guys,

Just plastered my living room and dining room which was top to bottom with the fan pattern artex.

Once it was plastered it looked perfect and nice and flat.

Once i fitted our new light flitting using warm white led bulbs its show up a lot of marks on the ceiling !!!!!

Also the same as happened when the sun has been shining through the window onto the wall !!!

Not a clue where im going wrong !!!

Do people use LED or HALOGEN lights when plastering ?

Help a brother out
Use a candle next time. If it that bad put curtains blinds to stop sun shining through. Get a ceiling down light. Back to the inperfection. I think you got two problems over trowling. Or your not getting flat enough. Next time before you finish shine lamp on it in every direction. But your going to get a bit of inperfection from the sun don't kare how good you are. But ther is a limit. Plastrer worst enemy the sun

Thanks mate appreciate the help and advice
Ceilings are often wavey , joists at different heights
chippies worry about the floor being flat ( in older buildings the joists depth can vary and " nobody looks up lol, hence coving and Artex is a goto to disguises this
Artexers don't need to account for it as its disguised by the pattern
If you lay on and flatten only in line with joists you will tend to follow this wave

Another point lol
If you've got foot traffic above keep it tight as you can , joists can move independantly slightly , thicker the plaster more likely together cracking or delamination

Pretty much the same, if it 25-30m2 usually knock up the first mix for the second coat , if its any bigger I'll have a pissy mix ready to go for the second coat.

Why oh why do plasterers happily help non tradesmen to take their work away?
Just tell them to f**k off.
If they have a go and f**k it up tough shite, maybe they'll get a spread in next time.
I see it as info for lads on here and debate , diy spreads are that type of person that they are never gonna pay , I'm the same , its shitty hard problematic work , info is one thing , but no way is it gonna earn you work , they'll fxxk it up and the customer will willingly pay top money to a spread with experience .
Each to their own , lots of love to you Andy
