I've just have the same thing happened on a different job. But this time the wall has it's first coat of paint on it. This time I reskimed it. Didn't use s*p*r*lex just Mt. The wall looks the same to look at. But when the sunlight shines down the wall it looks a lot lot better finished with the Mt then the s*p*r*lex. Am going back to the old way of skimming.

I never use my refina s*p*r*lex any more for that reason, i think the blades are to bendy and go over bumps etc rather than take them off which a stiffer blade would do . I use mt dura flex but its no where near as flexable as a s*p*r*lex .

same as @CTPlastering says, ive stopped using my s*p*r*lex and also cant see any point in using one for a final trowel, after all the wall is more or less finished by the time it gets its final flick over, unless of course you like leaving your wall all shiny

Av switched to a carbon steel trowel and use it for the whole set. Binned the plazzi months ago and just recently the s*p*r*lex. Strange how you go back to using what you were taught with. Old skool rules

shine a light down most plastering it will look bad
Especially when u get some spreads that brag about how much square meters a day they can do . It shows u can't rush quality iv z that ol the time. But u get some chuckle heads that think they skim a house in a day and get skim perfect lol

Interesting this.
I've just bought a s*p*r*lex for the winter months I will spend inside!!
I am a mt user also.
All these speed skim super flex bloody trowels I'm not yo sure tbh

They are no good Bobby where you might have a tendency to go on it too early, or more so on backgrounds where the skim is likely to hang soft longer such as moisture boards or s&c that's riddled with waterproofer. On these backgrounds you have to hit it later with it.

Supaflex on last trowel only but like other dudes been saying alot of people keep going over and over with them which is wasting your time just shining up a wall that was already done when matt.now it's got colder I been finishing with marshalltown and odd time supaflex

Can skim a house in a gage

s*p*r*lex are good if you go over at the rite time wen it proper pulls in and you s*p*r*lex it u CNT go wrong cudnt and wudnt go bk to Mt now saved about 10 years on the joints which is massively important I had trapped tendos in 2 of my fingers since used s*p*r*lex for couple years and felt a thing

Here is a picture of a wall with a light down it that was skimmed with the s*p*r*lex. The wall had its first coat of paint. U can see the ripples. But could not see them on till painted.
moisture boards

Thats why i ditched the supeflex, still got it comes in handy sometimes, but I reckon its only good on new work for some. I mostly do refurbs, not a lot of new work maybe a few walls, majority is overskim, just find the SF gliding over high and low spots, makes it smooth but not flat. To keep up with the gadgets I started using my old speedskim, which is a massive help on big areas and just use the mt from start to finish.
