Just out of interest do you machine guys spray in one pass or 2?
I'm spraying in 1 which is probably more time consuming but it works for me.
With the material as wet as it needs to be spray I can't see how it can be done in one @18mm

Not that often i spray 18mm usually 8-13mm on a pre rend but tend to do 2 passes still.

Did a 10mm recently of jub with mesh and the jub ocr slid of the mesh. Did a 10-12 mm Weber pearl grey this morning on rend aid base. First pass, bed mesh then second pass. Was going to fully mesh the mono being as its Weber but had loads of problems with it slumping. That was the apex and decided not to bother further down. No slumping problem?

Anyone had this before? Ocr or mono on mesh and it slumping? Used a 10 m pipe and ran at 10 bar. Nice stuff not too wet, just right.
 
Sprayed 75 bags of silver pearl yesterday, fully meshed first pass about 8mm then second pass around 10 mm no problem whatsoever. Nice gear to spray and finish.
 
If u use a g4 or similar the material flows faster and the air is more powerful than a ritmo so spraying thicker is no problem
 
Two passes is better practice anyway.
You get less chance of shrinkage (that can lead to cracks) also the top is easy to rule as @owls says and the chances of dry edging reduced as the first pass takes the initial suction. That said.....

There will be times when you need to get a hit on full thick and pronto. Using a 3phase machine will handle it no problem. A smaller machine will not. As @PFTwales says there.

I did a spray last week up a building and over a wall and back down the other side sprayed and ruled full fat 18mm with 25m of hose on at 28 bar

Just do what your happy doing mate, everyone will think the way is the best. It can depend on so many things, temps, dry or wet walls, size of panels , what gear your using, weber will skin over faster than parex. It has to be your call on the day.

Was this on rend-aid? If on block there might be grab but on pre rends there seems to be little suction. I don't like the 4mm mesh seems to be spraying on a sheet of plastic. SAS Europes grade 5 is more comfortable but mega buck!

Using monorex gf at the mo.rubs up lovely.happy to plod along with 2 passes.just wondered if many one coat
 
We tend to one coat using the g5 and g4. Just waiting for the know it , know nothing to start telling us were doing it wrong.
 
We sprayed 130 bags of weber chalk today on rend aid, last 40m had to be fully meshed, had it it on by 12 and was all scraped down and in the van by 4 :) lovely gear to spray and rule

Problem is now the wrong time of year for monorex and 2passes take a little longer to pull in than one pass... This is where Parex cash in on the Axel 3000 accelerator.

Give it a month and overnight sprays will be on the cards

Might be as quick on a small area bearing in mind setting up times but wait till their joints begin to fail!

The thought of putting a wall on by hand now scares me.

All your fault simply besty, you tolld me stop dreaming about it and go out and get a machine.

Im not bragging but there was only 3 of us yesterday and they was 15mm beads, we would never have been able to do that by hand in a day, and leave an acceptable finish
