Alright fellas,
New to the forum and have joined for some advice really after what I'm considering a pretty bad plastering job.
House is over 100 years old; hired a chap to come and overboard and skim ceilings, skim walls - taken back to bare brick in some areas. He's also done a bit of special damp plastering in some areas and said he could refit skirting boards and architrave afterwards for an extra cost so I agreed. Price quoted for plastering was 1400 quid this was for dining room and living room. Took him about 6/7 days to get done on his own. Cost an extra 300 for him to purchase and fit the skirting.
I wasn't happy with the job when he'd done; walls were uneven, holes in places, poor finish around door frames etc. but he said he was coming back to finish up so I left it and hoped it would look better when he came back. He came back a couple of weeks later to fit the skirting and check everything- turns out the plaster had blown on a couple of walls in one room and had to be redone. Bare in mind the whole time we'd had no heating on as we weren't living there so the plaster had dried naturally.
Came back to redo the two walls and finished up with the skirting and architrave and now the fresh two walls have cracks all over and are looking blown in places.
The entire job is a mess. I have holes above sockets and light fittings where the chap just hasn't done it properly, the walls are lumpy and full of imperfections, theres cracks everywhere and to top it all off the skirting and architrave is split and doesn't match in places. I could have done a better job myself and I have zero joinery skills.
He showed little care and respect when doing the job and everything was coated in plaster, I mean big chunks of it to the point I had to go round scraping it all off before I moved in.
I went to go put the mist coat on in the dining room while I'm waiting for the second round of plaster to dry in the other room and with the sunlight shining on it I realised how f*****g horrible it looks and what a shoddy jobs been done and decided not to bother.
I've raised issues with plasterer and he's coming back next week to fix what he calls 'snags'. I don't consider it snags and I'm not filled with confidence he'll sort it if this what thinks it is.
I'll post some pictures of just *some* of the stuff otherwise I'd be here all day. Really appreciate if you could all let me know what you think and what I should do.
