New car tax

I have been looking for a van the last few days. I went to see an old LDV PILOT today and the seller said that from October he cannot sell it with road tax so to be quick buying it. Has anyone else heard about it? He said that the buyer can have the remainder of the month whats left but then has to buy the tax themselfs the next month. More rip offs

from october you just pay road tax but will not be issued with a tax disc. it will all be held on a computer at dvla.

Thanks, I have just been reading that. He was right. You can't sell a used car or van with say six months tax any more but just tax till the end of the remaining month thenyou have to but tax and he has to cash what is left in. But no discs
