i need to give a price on a job, its to board and skim a ceiling 120m2 5m high.
He wants a price for labour and mats. how many plasterers will i need, i know i can board it with a lab. but im dam sure i aint skimmin it on my own

2-1 can do most things? Iv just priced a 25board ceiling will have a 2-1 on that, stilts help a lot save load of time!

5m lid well that 2 towers for a start 2/1 gang will do it m8 use hire staion ask for mat
cant none of the boy on here spray it for you m8
ill help £100 per day and im built like a ox too so the plaster will be flying up the tower

Damn big stilts. ;)

What about tape'n'joint.

I'd cost diferently with 1 sqaure room as opposed to a long rectangular ceiling with coridors etc. More edges, more fannying about

Where do you find your spreads from mate?.

Be handy to find some spreads for when i get renders and stuff....To either sub out or give me a hand..

Stilts will not help on a 5m high ceiling mate, If it was me id get some towers and some very long youngman boards and a 2&1 should do it on a rolling set

Bristol....,Be handy to find tidy spreads for a £100 a day...Or i don't mind paying someone £120 a day to do a render if the price is right.....I have to turn a lot of renders down, cause no one to do them with, and my brother is a bit unreliable..

well i pay people £140 a day cuz i only get good people in.. now lol.. and i charge £220 a day for me and my lab but to builders trades its £190 .. so i dont think you'd want me around lol

Ollie might as well and go and work in a warehouse. £100 a day averaged over a year deducting 2 weeks hols, 1 week over xmas, 5 bank holidays, 5 days sick, that's £2500 from a £26000 a year salary, leaving you rough average of £90 a day. Deduct tax etc and you'd be lucky to be averaging a £70 a day average. This is not what I would consider an apropriate wage for a skilled craftsman

I understand that but at the minute needs must id much rather earn 150 a day but that sort of money up here theres no chance

5m high absolute f**k**g nightmare mate i reckon a spread will be lucky to do 20m unless its fully decked i'd tape joint it too

i did a 25 square last year... pitched, 5m down to 2.4...
had one big tower, 1 half way and me hop-up...
had to drag the towers twice each as im going over it...
come very close to losing it, on my own, mixing myself having to run full gorilla tubs from the hop up to the middle to the top...
f'ckin plaster everywhere, got some on my trainers, coming down the tower with trowel and brush in one hand, slipped and twisted my back..... still finished the f'cker though....

had to have a week off and a trip to the physio >:(

moral, no matter what youre thinking.... double it!

Thanks for explaining that Chris.
well i suppose it could have been a scissor lift or a cherry picker, im just guessing... i thought birdcages had vertical bars though...
maybe he's got a pet pterydactyl?

Scissor lift would be alot easier, safer and probably cost no more than the scaffolding, besides even if it did sounds like the f**k*r can afford!
