he wants paying of course too, I’m going to give me half of what was agreed and tell him he needs to go back and finish.

he got the whole lot done in a day (including d & d) to his credit, but quality in places is missing.

The lad is now threatening to come to my house and take his money out of the house if I don’t pay him.

Tell him to piss off,and you will call the police if he sets foot on your property,tell him professional plasterers have said how bad of a job it is,tell him he's free to take it to a smalls claim court but he doesn't have a leg to stand on his work is utter Shite and give him a bad review on my builder all u need to do is post them pics up

get the police involved soon as possible,
get a proper survey done of his workmanship/photographs etc,
send him copies ,
inform him you have reported him to the police,

Hold your nerve mate, your well within your rights.
As has been mentioned already if he comes anywhere near you or your property phone the police.
If it was me I'd get ahead of the game and phone 101 and let the police know that you've been threatened as that's an offence in itself, at least it will be logged on their system.

You say that, but communication like that is an offence and whether you think the police are useless is neither here nor there.
If it's already logged on their system you'll probably get more chance of a response if it ends in a 999 call.
 
Threats to cause criminal damage is an offence so don’t be fobbed off by “it’s a civil matter” also if he comes to your house 999 suspect is on scene and you are covered to protect you and your property with reasonable force if necessary.
personally I would send him the pictures and ask how he thinks that is acceptable and if he is still
A dick then destroy him on mybuilder/local pages etc
 
Just Pay A Proper Spread from DAY 1!!!!!, Then this S**t Show wouldn't even be an Issue, Although, for me it would of been a 3 dayer, takin the time it needs, to do a Decent Job
