New trowel breaking in tips

Any tried and tested tips for prepping a new carbon trowel? I’ve used my salt stone as I always have done but I know lots of people have different tips

I ran mines on a paving slab

sharp as f**k

then a fat hairy arsed alcoholic groundworker used it to dig out concrete and popped the rivets

because I was on a 5 day bender
they helped themselves

+ the garage door fitters fuucked a load of my trowles when they dropped the the garage door on them


God I fuucking hate plastering

but love my trowels

Smooth paving slab or a lightweight block.
