new van... transit???

In 3 yrs time, that new Vivaro/Traffic/ primastar or whatever it is you bought, will be worth about £1.32p.

I paid £11,500 + VAT. The VAT is claimed back at the end of this quarter. 2011 Vivaros with 30k - 40k miles on them are going for £8,500 to £9,500 depending on condition. So in three years I'll 'loose' two to three grand.

I know it's a terrible deal and I'd be so much better off with an overpriced decaying can from Fix Or Repair Daily. Which in three years time will be a random collection of rusty tin attached to an engine and gearbox.
 
I just do the elk swerve manoeuvre a couple of times till the gear in the back finds its own level and stops rattling, if it wont stop rattling I just turn the stereo up a bit.

I've a swb transit but find it far too small, had to do two runs after I'd finished a wetcast job last week, was raging as it was after eight by time I got finished. Hopefully getting something in the next month or two if I can get some cash in I'm owed.
 
Getting there will be easy, take around 25 mins but getting back is a different story. Could take you an hour to an hour and a half.

Paid about 2.5k for mine based on PX. 2 years on going strong.
A van is a tool box at the end of the day.

If you need to shift 9k off your books then you should be buying a pump not a van......no wot I meeen bro

Dont agree a van is the main tool of your trade, and your first impression and point of contact with most punters, yet alone the reliability issues of old vans. New van 3 years hassle fee motoring.I spend a round 12 hours a week in mine and do around 30 thousand a year, what do you want to drive in a bone shaker for.
 
Not bone shakers man you can get 100ps tranny on an 55 plate. Drive sound. Just the same as the land rover. :D

Clean too.

I am a petrol head when I ain't driving my tool box. I save that for classics.

Hey my tranny is 75ps and still same with machine. The torque does the work. We got 2 vans the other is 100ps and the pump is usually in that and it moves fine.

I'm looking at mk7 at the mwb mid roof. 110 or whatever they come in.

I think the mk7 is basically an mk6 underneath. The dimensions are good, comfortable much like driving a ford car, but I think it comes with the same common faults, major ones like the fuel problems with the pump & spill valve & flywheel/clutch. Also ford transits rot like hell, especially underneath & cills
 
Mate of mine had loads of trouble with a 3 year old mk7 & AA guys called out to a mk6 I had told me their mk7s were as sh1t as mine. :-(

The last mk6 and the early mk 7 had the same fuel system and both the pump and the injectors are prone to fail. Early mk6 duratorque had a TDI set up much better.
 
I had a 85ps transit, you could get out and walk quicker from a start. I didn't have it long .i have 110ps 280's now and the difference is unbelivable
 
If you want speed go for a merc. I had a Vito it was rapid but I don't need speed out my van really Cars for that just the knowledge that it will start every morning.
Thing about Vans is like better the devil you know innit. They all have issues. Yes including you vw transporter even you...
