Collected my 12plate tranny on Friday, T280 limited, nice. I'm thinking about having a raised floor put in to carry boards under, anyone got that? Any pros/cons?

Nice van, probably be unnecessary extra weight as regards fuel etc and using up space decking out a raised floor. I personally just lean boards up on one side of the van wall..

Do a search on van storage.

There was a thread ages ago with photos of this set up.

What did you have before the tranny?

Agree, stand them up, your not limited to the amount you can stack then, and you can also cut them in the van if the job is tight to get full boards through.

If you have a couple of boards left over they can sit in there for weeks and not get damaged.

I had a vw transporter for a while, then operating out of an estate car, (not good) nice to get back in a van.

All my work is site stuff so can't really justify the need for a van but do really miss having one. Tend to drop my tools on a job and not take em off it for weeks or months.

The itch to have a van again is growing though. Just feel like a pikey in a car turning up to the odd private job.

Ignore the mess but I'll put a pic up of mine, can carry 25 sheets of 12.5 8x4s or 3x6.

Like beddy says they stay there for weeks without getting damaged, I use to stand them up but they use the get smashed to bits falling all over.

I have a false ceiling in my transit, it's a semi high roof and has I lip about a foot lower than the roof, I can fit 15 6x3's up there without moving any gear.......
Even have room for my props, levels and feather edges...

Would love a van again myself had a ford transit connect but its one or the other so I just use the car if I need a pile of boards I get them delivered less hassle than picking them up loading up loading off lol

I have my floor raised , defo worth it , i have 2 8x2 's along both sides and 3x2 with tou ge and groove flooring . Least ur boards are flat when dabbing etc and can be stored there like said and still pritty much have a full van i can load up . Only problem is u need a lab for 8 foot boards to get them in with out a struggle , 6 foot boards easy by ur self to get in and out . I would recommend it like

It depends what your using your van for I guess, I wouldn't want to lose head height or have a big step up into the back. I should think its a pain in arse and takes an age loading them in and out on your own to.

Mine stand up against a narrow rack built inline with the wheel arch box, they stay dead straight and are strapped in, they do not get damaged, loading and unloading is fast, and you still have the vans bed for loading pallets or a bag of sand in.
