Newly plastered wall is bumpy.

Hi there, I recently had one of our rooms plastered and after painting I have noticed that the wall is very bumpy. I’m not happy with this but I don’t know if I am being pedantic, I want to contact the plasterer and ask him to fix it but I don’t know how we would do this now. Would I be in the right if I did contact him? Is this normal? It’s really noticeable when I have my lamp on at night and it’s really bugging me.

Not great, but not terrible.

It would be possible for you to fill the hollows and fade the proud areas, using a taping knife and Polyfilla or EasiFill

Then (ideally 24 hours later) sand it with 220 grit sandpaper and then paint it.

I take your point - it might be terrible to you and me, but what I meant is that it's not terrible compared to some of the horror stories we've both seen on TPF. You know how shocking some of those are. This one's quite tame, by comparison!

Easy fix if you sand down the effected areas.
Obviously sand the thick of it off first with a courser grit then finish off with a finer grit.

I just feel like I shouldn’t have to do this. I would have no idea what to do and will end up making a right mess. The room had to go back to brick so cost a lot of money and I feel like it should be fixed with no cost to myself.

surely spray it with disenfectment and wipe clean 1st

Really you should not have too do any filling or sanding on a new plastered wall

It's prob 1 coated should flatten of first coat esp on a reskim level it then lay in fresh gear 2 flat coats

Yes, it is rough, but jeezus - some of the abominations we've all seen make this one look like a sunday picnic.
I was just trying to be supportive to the original poster and offer her a solution which would make it look better than it does now. Please don't interpret that as me feeling that the original job is to an appropriate standard, as we both know it isn't

1 coat plastic fantastic gone wrong by the looks of it would 100% get him back to reskim it, sanding and filling shouldn’t be required
