Mine went twice only had 80k on it but was 10 years old.
Bought a recon one first time that lasted a year then that went and I sold it and got a transit custom.
No woman no cry get me now.

Sensor's play up on them. I have a 2006 one my one is the opel vivaro same van tho. Nice to drive. Not bad on diesel.

Nice motors to drive. But guaranteed you'll be paying out big dough every 50k miles gearbox or similar.
Peugeot and Citroën and fiat are a bit better (psa group).

In my opinion then ford are a jump up again, much better.

Then any german motors.

My custom is big enough for 8x4 and the 1220x 2440 mdf boards which I use.
Also got a slot under passenger seat for 3m beads.
Lovely van so far, if the gear box goes on this its def me!

Heard people are having issues with the new transit engines..

Really nice van and bodywork hope they haven't ruined the only thing it had going for it ie the bulletproof engines!!

Not sure about that mate, mines only 8 months old and Its under warranty for 3 years so if it does I'm hopefully covered!
Do you know the specific issue?

My ldv maxus i got at that age , well 2 1/2 years old , paid 6500 plus with 67 k on . Not been many issues 4 years on . Bit late thou cos the bust now so no newer ones !

I've got a 64 plate transit custom, have done 5k miles and the gear box has started playing up! Nearly need both hands to change down to second!

Hello all
My friend has had a Renault traffic 2007 from new and has done 130000 miles and it has never missed a beat.
Original clutch !!!!
But on the other hand I know of a vivaro that's had new clutch gearbox after 50000 so it's who ever is lucky coz Nissan vivaro and traffic are all the same.

Just bought an 05 Primastar with 76k on the clock off a builder i know for 500 quid mwhaaaaaaaaaa. My eldest lad has a 07 Primastar with 156k on it which he uses as a camper and that needs a new gear box cos 4th gear is iffy so, 400 on a recon box every few years or 400 on welding for one of Henry's finest, of course that only applies if you always buy used rather than new.

I live on an island that is tiny and people are worried that vans with 70 /100 thousand miles from the UK are bollockes
I think an engine running hot is better than stop start with 40000??

Just realised the relevance of your screen name, my son was working in jersey for about 10 months last year doing geotechnical work on some old quarry ready for the developers to build new apartment blocks.

As far as the milage on any vehicle is concerned I have long since held the opinion that the more that is paid for a vehicle when it is new the more likely it is to be serviced properly i.e. if you can afford a 50k car you can afford main dealer servicing, if all you can afford is a 6k car then the likelyhood of main dealer servicing is less likely.
A BMW will f'up just the same as a Ford if it is not serviced

Hope he had a good time here!
I agree we all buy things that we can afford
Tranny vivaro traffic all great vans wit good and bad reviews
Bet we could all moan about women costing and letting us down more!!!!
Am I brave!!
P.s don't tell the mrs

I just bought one 2weeks ago with 114000 miles on the clock and it's a great van for me I have been told that the gearboxes can be an issue but my mechanic told me if the van is looked after and serviced regular it will be good for 250 to 300 thousand miles as he has had 2 of them that he got that out of.
Just don't hammer the gearbox
Change gear slowly.
Also even though the badge says nissan they are all made with renault parts which includes the vauxhall vivaro
They were made by all 3 as a collaboration between them
The only real difference is nissan primastar has most of the electrical bits as standard not as an extra eg heated mirrors air conditioning and so on
Good luck with whatever you choose

I would go for the Nissan if was choosing they seem to hold a little more retention price and loom better nick for some reason maybe Nissan owners look after things more I don't know
