No rendaid on a weber refurbished?

In the past a few builders have insisted on me not using rendaid on re renders when using pral m. Simply to save money I guess.

To give myself a fighting chance I've stabilised the walls with a weak SBR mix painted on quick like PVA before rendering straight on.

Looking at these old jobs there's never been a problem with them...so do we really need rendaid if we're stabilising the suction and meshing stress points?

Welcome back ... Where the hell you been ?

I need one of them plasterers do the boarding t-shirts

I think I would be more tempted to give it a sbr primer then a 1-1 sbr / water just prior to applying the pral m.

But as you say it seems to work as a stabiliser. When you think of the likes of microgobetis that stabilises the background to even suction. How the material actually sticks to this dry film I dont know. Hence why I would be tempted to apply a tack coat of sbr as described above.

Applying pral.m direct to dry clay bricks will give loads of problems.

You've got a point. I think it's more to do with drying evenly so you don't get colour patching.
Probably won't be much of an issue on chalk but would show patchy on other colours.
Still the cost of painting it with some gear from rend it would still be cheaper than rend aid I reckon.

Would that be the R10 gear?

R10 is a krend primer isn't it?
I just mean there normal paint they do to put on the mono after its done if it's come out patchy In colour

Oh I thought you meant instead of rendaid.
Yeah I'm wondering if their R10 primer would work with weber, or if microgobetis would.
The description does say "for monocouche renders".
@Rigsby do you mix and match?

The stuff I'm on about from rend-it is there mend rend paint.
It's used with there crack repair system but also for elevations where it's gone patchy from say the rain while drying, or the background unevenness and also if it's aged/weathered.
Great kit to be honest.
I've used it and it doesn't look like it's been painted after just new render.

on a refurb. we apply neat sbr, rendaid with full scrim, then mono. i know that the manuf. would want the scrim closer to the surface.
when you apply the rendaid you have more time on your hands to fit the scrim.then when you apply the mono. the last thing you need is to touch the scrim when you scratch back.

We put scrim in the rend aid. Don't like meshing while we are spraying.

Probably cos we are s**t at it [emoji106]

We dont mesh in the rendaid ,the spec is 6/8 mm back from the facework for mesh ,if your rendaid is that thick your in trouble!! lol

How much did you pay for it? Was speaking to a guy on Facebook who says he was quoted £80 for a tub that done 3m2 or something like that

Think there prices are on the site mate but I know the big tubs cover about 20m2 and there not quite £80 if I remember.
