Hello everyone.

I've been a lurker for a while but I decided to join up to pick your brains on some things I can't find on the search.

A bit about myself. I'm 30 years old, and after way too long in a job that bored me to death, I decided in September to go part time and start a plastering course at college. It's a years course, but I plan on doing level 3 which will be another year to get as much experience as possible.

When I left school I did an apprenticeship as a carpenter, working for a local construction company. We mainly did shop fitting, lots of dry lining, suspended ceilings, first and second fix etc, so have some experience in construction.

Ive done the usual, re-skimmed everything possible in my house and have been happy with the results.

So far at college we've been rendering a lot, which is fine by me because I'd never done it before.

Me and my friend (who is doing level 3 at the moment), boarded and skimmed a loft room for a teacher at college. One wall was pretty big, 3.5m high and 15m long, which went down the stairs. That was fun as we only had one ladder to work off, but it turned out fine.

I've also just re-skimmed a toilet for a friend of a friend which was awkward. Very small with a cistern and pipes everywhere.

I hope to get some experience with someone who knows what they're doing at some point in the near future.
