Used the eze spat 2day big k with a nela finish..its not at a point to finish wholly with it yet,do u literally just eze spat with no water and that's it?

Its ok with natural light I think its just wen u shine a light against it or down it..i will never ever ever flatten again with a s*p*r*lex
It looks spanking in natural light, but mt don't leave it looking like that when sun wacks it. I challenge the convinced lovers of the nela s*p*r*lex to say that it leaves a superior finish in shallow light.
Thats when a finish quality can really be observed.

7 years and your asking this question ? Then on your next ( 2nd btw ) post you have purchased 2 new Nela trowels lol, now I'm not exactly Columba but
What ya trying to say? ( said as I'm just about to leave the room and go)

Seeing as you asked, I have two theories the first being someone is out to cause a bit mischief second being someone is trying to drum up some support ??

I have 100% ruled out this being a genuine post.

I just put shitters up em and say ur plastering will crack as its 2 hot there's nowt worse Than skimming in a house wen every radiator is on..be alright wud tradesmen in my house as I'm a rite tight b*****d wen it cums to banging heaters on

I had to skim show house 2 weeks before christmas ....I was told skim living room first as lads coming to fit fire place this evening .....uurggghh gas burner on in centre of room ....lads turned to fit fire place 5.30 without any lights....you couldnt make this s**t up.

next day kitcken fitter turns up to fit kitchen while water pissing through ceiling....and sprayer turns up to spray house while only ground floor skimmed.

Whens the right time to say " fuuck this"

Yes, if it's been well flattened with Mt or speedskim.
If you've used it through the gauge I find it needs a spray of water.
Also if not totally broke in I found it needed a spray.
Just keep using it, I certainly wouldn't put it down to use a s*p*r*lex for later trowels, it will do the same job.

Do any of you lads know the difference between a final flatten and cross trowel?! I use the s*p*r*lex for cross trowel only and paints up fine.

Have u seen a light shine down the wall after u cross trowel and painted. Just out of interest. As I have stopped using the s*p*r*lex. Might try it just for the cross trowel.

As said in previous threads their is a place for the super ripple trowel but still working out where.

Shud be criminal to flatten with a s*p*r*lex totally with u clemo I wasn't a few months back as dint notice owt as u cnt tell to the naked eye but wen u put that post up which thanks for doing as I still be flattening now with 1..knwbody shud flatten with a sf and if u do and u say bullshit like it looks ok with light against it etc ur talking utter s**t

All these trowels are a load of s**t, had same problems as you guys describe, didn't realise until went back to a job where they painted ceilings in satin with lights shining at ceiling level across it, luckily only used one for about 9months but thats still 9months I wish never happened! All these plastic trowels n s**t are a load of bollock, looks perfect from a distance but definitely aint flat!

Its always interesting for me to read these comments whether it's referring to our SF or competitors

It's amazing how so many peoples opinions vary on them.

We have so many that swear by them and then you read about people who have issues.

The NeLa SF is purely a finishing trowel, we don't advise laying on or even fattening with one. The wall should be flat before use. Saying that, I know lots of spreads who flatten with them and finish with them and have fantastic results

Anything with any degree of FLEX will only follow contours of the wall and not flatten the plaster but just smooth

U cant flatten with sf its a fact..i thought mine looked great til about 2 months ago I wud of argued with any1 saying nah u must be s**t I can flatten only saying this as u mention uve heard plasterers say there can flatten with 1..that nela mark 2 is a class finishing trowel I luv it its miles better than refina but like u say its a finishing trowel wen ur walls flat we give it a speedskim rule and mt then a nela now and finish is flat n no ripples! Shud put on box warning not for flattening lol..

The plaster is still being flattened pretty much up to final trowel, if going over it with a flexi doesnt flatten it at all then why bother with the final trowel in the first place? The whole logic is flawed, may as well finish a set after just a couple of trowels if it doesnt need flattening until the end. MT from start to finish, never let me down!

What about Speedskim with corners bent back slightly I think that is the best ' trowel' I ever used.for first and second flatten I then give one last flick over with either Marshalltown or 2 with supaflex.
Not saying u r wrong
Just asking have you tried that as well.

The light is what plastering is judged in..and even is s*p*r*lex is used for last skite it's finish is inferior.only my opinion.
Granted as you say it's purely finishing only, but I will not bin mine as I am
Still giving it a chance, but only in certain conditions. Biko handle feels better than durasoft but at the end of the day it's the quality of finish.
You are correct to say all people are not of same opinion and it is a can of worms with this trowel.

I will speak to NeLa about this

I dont wanna risk trying any other flexi trowels now dude, itll haunt me for life! Im happy with standard MT, these gimmicks are getting out of hand in my opinion!

As far as some spreads flattening with the flexi and getting good results, I think its more of a case they are un aware of how inferior the quality is they are leaving! My work looked great, until certain light caught it, but its rare I get to see my work painted and finished so it was months after use I realised how s**t these trowels are!

I did a decent size wall over day give it 2 speedskims,1 mt,1 nela then a dry nela..was bob on flat as fooookkkk

I certainly wouldn't call them a gimmick, they are pretty well established now and are also highly regarded.

Im pretty sure the finish isn't necessarily down to the trowel but also the spread? The trowel is only as good as the guy holding it

Saying this, timings are very different when using a SF compared to a MT... They are very different trowels

I only ever used sf for final cross I would imagine it would be terrible to flatten with reason I like Speedskim to flatten is it moves the gear around but don't drag it off.
With all the different trowels I think it's definitely down to the plasterer which is probably why so many different views on all of them, times of flattening or finishing have to be slightly changed with all of them compared to marshalltown all the way through.

There have been threads a few years ago about people saying spats etc was leaving ripples in their finish and once it was painted it looked terrible

Once the guys using the spat changed their timings they soon found the benefits and how it worked.

You actually can! Open the trowel and you will flatten much better then if is closed. The wall is not soshiny, which is the first sign of a difference , but still not good enough. This trowel n my opinion is best really as a last-last trowel. It does great job finishing the corners tho.
