I render quite a bit with normal sand/cement, If I wanted to add a coloured render on top of a floated render, what is the process and what is the best product to use in terms of usability ,durability and cost.? I prefer something that is quite simple to use, ie bang on /rule and float etc..

what sand are you using for your rendering john im rendering at the mo in finchley and the sand weve been supplied with is awful dragging and tearing, full of stones, its just terrible to rub up

Yes its hard to find decent sand, you need leighton and buzzard or western, some of the sand is not fit for flood protection use.. I use Morans in North london, they have decent stuff, builder centre, travis and jewsons are usually no good..

yeah this is build depots version on buzzard ok cheers mate, sorry to hijack your thread there

Try sidcup travis they do a westerham sand , or they did 6months ago, really good drop of sand.

for crap sand I add sharp to it at 3/1 to use it up but for scratch only, Essexandy is a bit of an expert on sand, good guy to ask about this..

has buzzard changed over the last few years or so it used to be quite nice.....well i thought anyway not had a nice drop of it in...............well i dnt know blaady ages

wish i had the chance to order the sand could of asked and got the best, unfortunatly its not my job, i was just sent there to help get it done asap when i got there it was already being dropped off.
we managed to get rid of 4 ton of it on the scratch so theres not much of it left now only a ton or so, so hopefully get a nicer sand for rest of the top coat

Parex Monorex GF (grit free) is nice to use, although I don't know about using it over existing render as that's not my thing.
