One coat plastering

Flat, matt finish......anyway you can get it. in my honest opinion.
Craftsmanship, pride in your work, all well and good, but I am skimming boards ready for paint. I will take the easiest route to get the required result.

To some extent yes. The flexi trowels can finish strange shapes better then a hard flat one. Long speedskim does make it flatter - faster (at least over some wobbly overskims). The crap you hear is just marketing and I agree it's mostly crap. But my point is I do use these 2 and whilst not essential they have advantages. But me using them now doesn't mean my work used to be rough.

Like I said in the original post you quoted, then saw your arse "if it works for you carry on". You must agree if your getting a better finish now you wasn't in the past? That's all I said, I wasn't calling anyone who uses these tools rough, just pointing out the obvious. I can get a perfect finish just using my trowel so don't need to use anything else, I agree with what someone said the pole will save you getting up and down off a hop up but I use stilts so never needed one even though I've had one in the van years I never used. All I'm pointing out is the crap you mentioned, which Coz I'm a moderator or I don't use them, I'm doing something wrong and not allowed to have a comment. This forum is getting to the point where people are not allowed to voice their opinion on any of the sponsors wears, or if they do criticise them they are crucified so don't speak up. I've been here well before any of these sponsors and watched this place grow, there are a few others who have been here from the early days and seen it also. If we just agree with what we are given nothing will improve and we wouldn't be where we are. I've seen these tools develop over the years and the materials and the ones that have done well, are the ones prepared to listen to their users and take any criticism on board and make a change, I could list off plenty who did and have grown, and could list a few who didn't and just went off their own hype and failed. I am sick of being told I hate this and that and I'm stuck in the past, but when it comes from someone who hasn't got a clue about basics or has been at it five minutes it's annoying. I've been in this game nearly 30 years and done most disciplines of plastering and read a hell of a lot and questioned a hell of a lot more, I don't do this because I hate plastering, it's because I want to learn as much as I can about it. Do you honestly think I would be wasting a Lot of my time on here if I didn't enjoy plastering? I'm sick of certain members saying I think I know everything, I don't, but I known hell of a lot and that's through learning and listening, I wasn't born with all the information. If I went with everything I was told I would have ten machines and even more trowels and a few other crazy tools that I won't mention. This idea I shouldn't have the same opinion as you lot because im a Moderator doesn't make sense, if I wasn't a moderator what difference would my posts make?

that ceiling was finished off the floor purely using just the blue bladed plastic speedskim on an extension pole.
It would of looked the same if I'd used Any finishing trowel in my van it would just of required a bit more effort.

i put a bet on friday with my brother he couldnt skim to ground floors of 2 houses ceilings in 1 hit if i laboured on him. garages included.

the little cuunt skimmed approx 105m in a hit just 1 coating it turned out perfect.

3.5 hours it was done.

i never baby sat ....he was 2 tired to go out !!!!



the bet was i baby sit his little monsters friday night !!!

If i did this when plastering with my uncle, he'd pull me on one or two things. (thsts going by the pic because it could look better in real life)
