Just out of intrest , i have a ceiling to do tomorrow (plasterboard )its for a builder i do work for's relation ??? its about 60 miles from where i live its 20m2 only 2.1 m high (farmhouse ) and the room is empty ,he wants me to supply and im taking a lad with me , the builder told me to just charge what i want, so what do you think ?

id say charge him whatever you'd charge him locally for the same circumstance only add deisel.. gotta be 15-20 quid plus an hourly rate for you and the lad travelling..
travelling is still time on the job as far as im concerned... once you get out of your normal area or town..

or if its up my way church, tell me what the price is (so i dont drop you in it), ill go and knock it out, charge you a onner cash and you pocket the difference ;D

traffic be a killer then.. extra 50 spots...
couple of ice creams... fiver....
few beers on the way home.... tenner....
little saturday jobs like this in the summer.... priceless ;D

Ive just recently done the same thing, about 60 miles away. I had a kitchen ceiling to skim and charged £100.
It was for my Nan though and she insisted on paying.

Theres nothing wrong with being a shortarse, Im only 5.5.
Id struggle with that ceiling without a step!!

Im 5'7" and built like a brick proverbial ;) ;) ;)

Why are you taking a lad with you ? the rooms empty, its on board, 2.1 high it doesnt get any easier. So with all that in mind 175 cash and you will be home by midday.

I was thinking £300 all in

???

your kidding me ??

just in case farmer haybaler's boarded it with old boards he's had out in the cowshed and nailed it up with fence staples ;)

no im only kidding mate, if i had 5 days a week regular work id have one too...
just happens i cant keep enough work coming in at the minute to justify having a lad so everytime i get anything bigger than a few good rooms im knackered ;D... different on domestic innit, theres enough work just sheeting up, moving the odd item, cleaning down, prepping up etc to keep 2 people busy all day...

I rarelly work without a lad "call me lazy" if you like mate .

Thats as maybe Church but this is for a relative of a builder who gives you work so on a very small job aswell charging for a lab is taking the piss imo

£300 not cash wink is a bit steep imo ..... 1.5 hours travel so leave home at 8 there for 9:30 skimming by 10:30 finished by 1:00 back home for 3:30 easy.

end of the day, if he's saying charge what you like, would be to go do the job, see how you get on and then bill him...

church im at v weekend..i could do it for u lol but i recon ill be so mangled that ill problably skim the floor instead......bang on 300 at least i recon to the traffic could be murder...
