Same bathroom as previous question.

2 walls need boarding prior to tiling. One internal wall is lathe and plaster. Its loose in parts but customer does not want the mess of pulling it down. Was gonna dot and dab over the existing wall where the plaster is sound. Then maybe fire in some clout nails into the board to help secure if to the joists. Is this ok???

Boards will be tiled over once done

thanks

to be fair..this is a very basic question. a no brainer in my opinion.
Why on earth would you dab a wall thats loose? put more weight on a wall thats already f u c k e d.
Screw the boards on to the stud joists to give rigidity mate like the guys say above.
If you dont no the answer to a simple problem like this, you really shouldnt be doing the job in my opinion.

Not true reali, your always learning in plastering and sometimes you come across something simple but start thinking the long way round! now he will no how to do this he can tell some1 else how to get over this problem. iv only had to over board a lath wall about 10 times on the last 7 years!

iv done some daft stuff before.

once i was looking how i could set up to plaster a ceiling over a stairway. i even went out and got a supper twisty ladder from screw fix but still couldn't make a good platform then i got a ladder and plank but still couldn't work it out. the my other plaster just said what are you doing! you can reach by leaning over the banister no need to make any platform! Now i no ha ha :-)

lol you are thick you ask some of the most stupid questions for a plasterer with his own business plastering, you are doing well by the sounds of it but if it wasnt for a forum on the net you would be bolloxed lol whats your other business and when did you pay off the house, 2 cars and the van?

To be fair the stupid ones are those that take on jobs they're not sure of and then don't ask the questions they need to on a forum like this.

most questions i ask are about rendering.nothing wrong with asking questions.. but anyhow.. rant over.

That sounds lovely that oasis, thanks i'll pop round weekend, i'll bring a few pics of me as a baby and im looking forward to meeting your lovely wife and kids. ive been plastering 22 years since i was 16............... calm down calm down i will work it out for you im 38 and yes i once made a mistake. I cut the light out in the wrong place on a plasterboard back in 1989 but after further investigation years later it was found that a friend of mine had given me the wrong measurements so that doesnt really count. So tell me again have you been plastering 7 years and are you 21 or 22? :)

is that it now.i was getting into reading all that carry on.come on lads dont stop now.carry it on tonight so i dont have to watch eastenders.oasis you say your clearing over £750 a week and im guessing you do mainly domestic like myself.well im 42 and you are doing better than me at present so good luck to you.

domestic mate'e yeah well i charge £220 a day for me and my lab. so £750 is an average weeks wage as its up and down. you can finish a job in good time or it can take longer than you think. i give quotes out based on what i can do in a day with my lab plus a lil extra for messing around with carpet and stuff ... money dont last long when ya have 2 kids and a mrs to eat it all up! i just spend my money on wages tools and crap ha ha

oasis pal, just wondered how you got going
im 21 myself and am thinking about setting up on my own
just worried about getting no work in and not being able 2 pay the mortgage!

so how did you get etablished, did you have a good customer base before you set up?
or did you just get your work from advertising?
its takes a bit of bottle 2 go 4 it so young!
so any tips?
cheers

good ads do a top job with top customer service. gets a good word going around and the work follows

OASIS be careful it seems to me that flynnyman is trying to groom you over the net mate,
It might all sound like friendly banter at the minute but he'll soon be asking you to meet him in a park!!
;D
