overboarding

I saw something on the internet the other day saying instead of knocking holes in a ceiling to find a joist when overboarding you can use a strong magnet to find the old screwheads and by this find the joists.....does anyone do it that way? Just out of interst really as I never would have thought of that.

I quite like the theory.....

I never need to make a hole just to find joists and as for pinging lines across just use my eye and experience.

3 nail method then ping with a chalk line no mess at all
