@BetterTAX whats this nonsense then?

Got my tax bill which is ridiculous so to add insult to injury they want half again up front for next years.... so the fact that I have to pay the arses they want half again.

Can I tell them to poke it and they can get it as and when I get it?

you can always appeal but usually have to pay it. If you do appeal make sure you have good cause as they might start taking a closer look at your accounts . Always remember TMC , TAKE MORE CASH !

happened to me n'all blo*day hundred quid!! paid my bill just not the extra the cheeky gits wanted and got fleeced :RpS_cursing:

Danny, they base this payment on a prediction of what they think you will owe them, going by your current earnings. Get your accountant to write to HMRC explaining that you don't anticipate earning as much for whatever reason. Tell them what you think you will earn and they will adjust the figure accordingly.

Yes @Danny I'm afraid this is how they deal with self employed. It seems unfair (and probably is) but because of the way system works, that on account isn't really paying up front, because you're still paying it in arrears (as it were).

What is not considered is that you may have had a blinding year one year, so they work out the tax and then the "on account" amount, by which time, that tax year could be really awful.

I guess it works itself out in the end, but just seems a lot at the time. I do know you can ask not to do it, but I'd have to check into that - or have a looksee yourself on the HMRC site. BUT do it sooner rather than later, because yes, if you don't and are then late paying (even though you don't feel you owe that much perhaps) they will start penalties etc.

Just another little HMRC joy!

It's all 1 way with them feckers , so if u got a rebate would they give u 1/2 again for the anticipated rebate the year after, I think not

I had it this tax year , look at it that it has to payed sometime , bit up front is sometimes better then a large bill at the end of the tax year:RpS_unsure:

it means ur earning too much daniel. or declaring too much :rolleyes)

i stopped work last xmas and i still got a bill mid year. thats been a pain trying to sort out.

also as u probably pay ur tax almost a yr later than the end of the tax yr, ur not technically paying it upfront. just not as late as you previously were. you will have already earnt it.

so stop moaning you tight **** :-)
