People are melters.

Yeah, get you man, but end of the day, the man I normally work for, is fussier than anyone I have seen before, as much as it can be a pain the arse, it keeps you on your toes, and keeps standards high. But, we are all human, odd mistakes can happen, long as we rectify them easily enough. He might try and act the c**t, but, I'll have to hope he doesn't, just doesn't like parting with his money. Few of them do.
Mate I'l happily come round and deal with him. I f**k**g hate this s**t plus I struggle with my moods on a daily basis these days. Depends which Marshy turns up I'm afraid

If they want it cheaper, simply agree.......and ask them which room/wall/ceiling...they don't want done........then turn on your heel and flounce.......that's right ....flounce right back to your van..........it really messes with their heads.....:p

I'll remember that for again. I like that.

I think pricing in the private sector is getting harder because so many are pricing with no or little experience, bnq is getting good business with cowboys buying their orange builders pales bags of multi and a ragni trowel, and plastering or trying to plaster for a stupid daily wage, it reminds me of all the artexers who appeared back in the eighties early ninetys doing stupid designs with their fingers or whatever they made a mess with, as said when running a business proper consideration plays a huge part in pricing, I don't mind being asked to sharpen the pencil on a quote but there is a limit to what you can give a discount, but what I wont do is stand and haggle as if I am selling a motor and not my worth, plus most of them want a price on the spot which isn't comfortable in itself but that is again caused by the fly by nights giving it the patter to get the job at any cost

I took photos and told him I would send him through a price of what I thought was reasonable considering the work involved. But yeah, you're a hundred percent right.

Had to price a job yesterday, gave him, Imo a very fair price considering, all ceilings have been boarded and need skimmed, 3 full rooms need reskimned, patching bonding and a fee stud walls downstairs and upstairs, and he basically wants it done ASAP, but of course get the phone call back its more than he expected then wanted a breakdown of it and wanted to know how I got to that price going by day rates etc. If he wanted me to do it on a day rate, why did he ask me to price the F*****g house.

Waited 6 weeks on my money on a job. Owed 2220 on last payment and hit me with a cheque for 2k and said he'd get me again :wtf:  . c**ts have some cheek.

that's one of the many pitfalls of being self employed especially with smart arsed builders holding us to sixty days for payment and the private sector with the rubber lined cheques, and the old chestnut of retention @ crazy% ,oh the joys !!!:baaa:

If a customer say.s they can get it cheaper i just tell em to use them . If your good you will allways have work. A customer once came to house and after wife asked if i talk to all my customers like that . I said ye (didnt think i was being rude or owt .just being me) she was shocked . Wife works in a political correct office. My reply was they need me more then i need them .
I learned hard way never to give day rate and price option though came good in end. We set of putting thermo boards in attic bedrooms and it was taking a age . So customer kicked of saying were back on price as he thought we would cap it if day rate got to the price we had give . So i said fair enough we will go on price . Dropped down stairs and 8x4 boards flew up . His face hit floor . For last days work he had to give me 800 for a day . Teached him for penny pinching
