No respect.
It’s nothing to do with BG what your merchants is charging mate. Have a word with them or shop around? Why is plaster getting more expensive, you have more or less cornered the market.
Stop the builders merchants ripping us off.
Bg didn't put prices up after initial lockdown , merchants saw profitIt’s nothing to do with BG what your merchants is charging mate. Have a word with them or shop around?
I think plaster is still quite cheap...
considering what you spend to what you can earn from it.
I reckon we as plasterers have the cheapest material and tool cost to earn a living
We'd all be Algeehalfcoating lolAgree and here lies the problem would be better if it was £100 a bag!
That would make your lockup worth a few quid, what with the 100 bags of Carlite sitting there.Agree and here lies the problem would be better if it was £100 a bag!
If you run things properly then it's only more expensive for the client rather than youWhy is plaster getting more expensive, you have more or less cornered the market.

£6.48 a bag in wickes. How cheap do you want it? Most domestic spreads probably put on less than 3 bags a day on average, so looking at £20 a day on average for your main materials. Why is plaster getting more expensive, you have more or less cornered the market.

You using that “ make good” wonder stuff again lolI'm looking around 2.98 in merchant's near me but I'm the only person who gets those prices!
Board finish is less than £6 a bag with the discount£6.48 a bag in wickes. How cheap do you want it? Most domestic spreads probably put on less than 3 bags a day on average, so looking at £20 a day on average for your main materials.
All you have to do is say to the builders merchant it 6.48 in wickes can you match it or I'll just shop there instead.

BG more or less got the whole plaster market to themselves. They got the license for every gypsum mine in the UK. It cost them less than 50p to produce a bag of plaster. Yes it is cheap at approx. £7.50 per bag.fk me how fkin cheap do you want it?
That's a different arguementI don't.
The 'cost' of plastering is very steep - accelerated wear & tear on your body. Not many white collar workers would be willing to pay that price...
That's a different arguement
Yes, admittedly, I was skewing your meaning, but my point was that the real cost of plastering is hidden.
Ahh the customer who works out your time by a hourly rate haha!Rendering the front of a house.
A women from a few doors up asked me to replace a tile that had come lose at the back of her house.
When over with my ladders, put the tile back, said just give me a £10. for my time.
She complained it was expensive for 10 mins work. I told her yes it was but if I had fallen and broken my leg or worse it would have been too cheap.
I don't really see the logic in your argument pal....if you're moaning because plasters to expensive, you're either working for fkin shyte money or you're getting your pants pulled down by your merchants....or maybe a bit of bothBG more or less got the whole plaster market to themselves. The price is creeping up, every month, its not imported so nothing to do with Brexit.
We all got to make a profit, but nobody likes being ripped off.

either way I couldn't give a monkeys cos I'm all but retired anyway
It just me pissed off today, did a small job, couple of walls and a ceiling, one wall not lining into the new plasterboard. Second day picked up a bag of one-coat on the way, close to the job at a builders merchants never used before, no phone call, just walked in, paid £15.00 for 1 bag. You are correct paying £5.00- £7.00 more than is nothing compared to what I was paid for the job. Just feel I was taken for a mug.I don't really see the logic in your argument pal....if you're moaning because plasters to expensive, you're either working for fkin shyte money or you're getting your pants pulled down by your merchants....or maybe a bit of both

A bit like when you order a pint in London pub, don't look at the cost, it spoils the taste of the pint.
What the f**k are you on about. You messed up a job so bought a bag of one coat to rectify it? Every merchants will rip you off if you don't have an account, and don't question the priceIt just me pissed off today, did a small job, couple of walls and a ceiling, one wall not lining into the new plasterboard.
