Why is plaster getting more expensive, you have more or less cornered the market.
Stop the builders merchants ripping us off.

Tbf materials are on the up , I use Weber monocouche and am considering just using ocr from now on as the mono cost is just crazy from the merchants, travis and Jewsons have upped there rates to £16 a bag Ish , even the smaller independents prices have a massive £60 or £70 delivery cost now too

£6.48 a bag in wickes. How cheap do you want it? Most domestic spreads probably put on less than 3 bags a day on average, so looking at £20 a day on average for your main materials.

All you have to do is say to the builders merchant it 6.48 in wickes can you match it or I'll just shop there instead.

Board finish is less than £6 a bag with the discount

I think plaster is still quite cheap...

considering what you spend to what you can earn from it.

I don't.

The 'cost' of plastering is very steep - accelerated wear & tear on your body. Not many white collar workers would be willing to pay that price...

about first sensible thing you've ever said on here, not bad for a lefty

fk me how fkin cheap do you want it?
BG more or less got the whole plaster market to themselves. They got the license for every gypsum mine in the UK. It cost them less than 50p to produce a bag of plaster. Yes it is cheap at approx. £7.50 per bag.
The price is creeping up, every month, its not imported so nothing to do with Brexit.
We all got to make a profit, but nobody likes being ripped off.

Rendering the front of a house.
A women from a few doors up asked me to replace a tile that had come lose at the back of her house.
When over with my ladders, put the tile back, said just give me a £10. for my time.
She complained it was expensive for 10 mins work. I told her yes it was but if I had fallen and broken my leg or worse it would have been too cheap.

Ahh the customer who works out your time by a hourly rate haha!

I laugh when I look at what I need to make money.. you can get everything you need tool wise for under £100 an you compare that to a lot of tradesmen it’s laughable. Joiners need to get up at 4am to get there tools out the van! Have noticed the pre bagged gear prices getting higher myself but what can ya do.. As long as I get what I want then ..is what it is. Customers need to pay for what they want.

It just me pissed off today, did a small job, couple of walls and a ceiling, one wall not lining into the new plasterboard. Second day picked up a bag of one-coat on the way, close to the job at a builders merchants never used before, no phone call, just walked in, paid £15.00 for 1 bag. You are correct paying £5.00- £7.00 more than is nothing compared to what I was paid for the job. Just feel I was taken for a mug.
A bit like when you order a pint in London pub, don't look at the cost, it spoils the taste of the pint.

What the f**k are you on about. You messed up a job so bought a bag of one coat to rectify it? Every merchants will rip you off if you don't have an account, and don't question the price
